Book Trailer Thursday: This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers

I’ve been seeing the book cover for This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers around and it’s gotten me really intrigued about the book. The blue colored background with the blood spatters and the girl with the hair covering her face – it’s all very mysterious. And it’s about the zombie apocalypse so that’s all very exciting too. Is the girl on the cover a zombie or the main character Sloane or both? Today I stumbled on the book trailer and man – is it scary and intense! The sound effects and the disturbing visuals all hit the point home that this is a serious zombie book. Hope I’ll be able to handle this one!

From Goodreads:

This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers, June 19, 2012, St. Martin’s Griffin

It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self. To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up. As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live. But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life—and death—inside. When everything is gone, what do you hold on to?

I actually had the chance to read an ARC of this one and it blew me away. I thought it was phenomenal–Summers’s strongest novel yet–and it’s definitely one of my favorite reads of 2012.

The trailer is going to give me nightmares, though.

Glad to hear you loved the book! I can’t wait to read it. And yes, that trailer is chilling..

The idea of it all taking place inside, in one place, could either be awesome, tension building technique, or it could make for a tedious boring read. I’m interested though. Since the other commenter gave it glowing reviews, I reckon I’ll put it on my library list which has gotten so long, I fear my library computer system may not be able to support it.

Yeah, I know what you mean – I’m curious about how the setting comes into play too. The reviews look encouraging so far – 4 avg. on GR.
The hard part is when all the library holds are ready at the same time- gotta love the library though.

That just happened to me. I forgot to update my holds queue with a new date and got like 5 books at the same time. Ack!
