Feel Good Books

As most of you know I’m in the middle of a short blog hiatus. I miss you all a lot and appreciate your kind thoughts so much. I’ve been missing reading too but have been at a loss about what book to start. Reading is always a favorite pastime of mine but now it’s an especially good escape. So I’m really looking forward to finding the right book and the time to dive back in.

I had been reading a lot of contemporary lately but some of the books I have on my shelf are more on the heavy side, which I don’t think I can handle right now. I was thinking of reading more paranormal again or lighter contemporary.

These are the books I have in mind for my next reads and I’m calling them my feel good books. If you’ve read any of these let me know in the comments- and especially if there are any I should avoid or bump up the list.

1. Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill – Looks cute and fun and romantic, with a London setting and a mystery suitor.

2. City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare – Sequels are comforting, and the latest Mortal Instruments book should be a good escapist read.

3. A Midsummer’s Nightmare by Kody Keplinger – My daughter read this one and gave it her seal of approval. I liked The Duff, and I just read that some characters from that book appear in this one.

4. Storm by Brigid Kemmerer – This just looks fun, distracting, action-packed, and romantic – all good things.

5. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling – Though I’ve seen all the movies I’ve never read the books. (I KNOW) I figure now’s as good a time as any to remedy that.

6. Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard – This is a road trip / self-discovery book that I’ve heard great things about. The only thing I’m wondering is if it’s going to be very sad.

7. Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols – This one is about a girl who loves to fly to escape her difficult home life. Not sure if this one is more on the fluffy or dark side but it does look good anyway.

8. Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins – An angel book that readers seem to like. Good and evil, romance, fast-paced- I’ll give it a try.

9. Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday – I keep hearing how funny this mystery is, just what the doctor ordered.

10. Glitch by Heather Anastasiu – This is about a dystopian society where emotions that were suppressed start to glitch. It’s been a while since I’ve read any dystopia so that could be good.

Read any great feel good / comforting type books lately? I would love to hear your suggestions!
