Mailbox Monday #9
Mailbox Monday is a weekly event created by Marcia that travels to a new blog each month. Join in to share your book loot and discover some new book blogs. Jennifer at Mrs. Q Book Addict is the host for the month of July.
I broke my wrist last week and so typing (and most everything else) is slow going. My family has offered to type my reviews for me in the meantime
These are the books I received last week:
Bought:
Love on the Edge: Going Too Far and Forget You by Jennifer Echols – I loved Such A Rush (review coming soon) and wanted to read some of Echols’ other titles. I’m reading Going Too Far now.
Audiobooks Won:
The Trylle series trilogy (Switched, Torn and Ascend) audiobooks by Amanda Hocking, Narrated by Therese Plummer – won from Once Upon A Twilight – thanks!
Audiobooks for Review:
Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness, Narrated by Jennifer Ikeda – I have the audio of A Discovery of Witches so I’ll listen to these back to back.
The Orphan Master by Jean Zimmerman, Narrated by George Guidall - A mystery set in 1663 New Amsterdam (now lower Manhattan).
Books for Review:
Once by Anna Carey – for a blog tour stop later this month
Fractured Light by Rachel McClellan – for a blog tour stop in August
Not Exactly a Love Story by Audrey Couloumbis – Sounds fun! It takes place in 1977, and from the description: “Audrey Couloumbis’s YA debut is a smooth-talking Cyrano meets Saturday Night Fever and tells a quirky, flirty, and smart story that will appeal to fans of Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Frank Portman’s King Dork, Natalie Standiford’s How to Say Goodbye in Robot, and John Green’s An Abundance of Katherines.“
Mystic City by Theo Lawrence – Looks like a cool sci-fi dystopian.
Under My Hat: Tales from the Cauldron anthology by Jonathan Strahan – featuring short stories by Neil Gaiman, Holly Black, Diana Peterfreund, Margo Lanagan, Peter S. Beagle, Garth Nix and more.
All you Never Wanted by Adele Griffin – A story about sibling rivalry that sounds intense.
Library:
Purity by Jackson Pearce
The False Prince Audiobook by Jennifer A. Nielsen, Narrated by Charlie McWade
Sync YA free audiobook downloads of the week:
The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud, Narrated by Simon Jones
Tales from the Arabian Nights by Andrew Lang, Narrated by Toby Stephens
Have a great week!

oh no – how did you break your wrist? that sucks. i hope it’s not in too much pain. at least you have some good books and audiobooks to keep you company. under my hat sounds really cool and i haven’t heard of it before. ahhh shadow of night! i just got the hard cover last week and haven’t started it yet. i might do that when i get back from vacation. have a great week, lucy!
I was distracted and I fell wrong on my wrist. It’s very annoying mainly. Audiobooks are easier to handle now than holding a book, and I’m getting good at one-handed typing! Under My Hat does sound cool, hope you like Shadow of Night. Have fun on your vacation
So awesome! Ascend, Shadow of Night and Mystic City I want. They look fab
GOING TOO FAR! It’s my fave Echols book, I hope you LOVE it! Oh and I’m looking forward to Once!
And poor you! It’s so nice of your family to type reviews up for you
I am liking Going Too Far a lot so far- glad to hear it’s your fave. I haven’t read Eve yet so I’m wondering if I’ll be too lost if I read Once on it’s own.
I’ve broken a wrist before, so not fun! You have a great selection of books this week. I have Switched from the Tyrelle series, hoping to start it soon. Enjoy!
Going Too Far is my favorite by Echols (so far, I haven’t read Such a Rush yet). I hope you’re enjoying it. I really need to read Deborah Harkness’ series. They sounds great.
Sorry to hear about your wrist! I hope it feels better asap. So nice of your family to type for you.
Wow, that’s some mailbox. Enjoy!
Those should keep you busy for a while! I got the two Penguin audio books too. I hope they’re all winners!
What tempting books! Hope you enjoy them all…and here’s MY MONDAY MEMES POST
The Orphan Master looks interesting.

Purity is a super quick read, I wonder what you will think of it.
ALSO. It’s like an explosion of audiobooks. I love it!
Sorry to hear about your wrist
Looks like you got some good reads ahead of you though!
Ouch, a broken wrist sounds painful. The audiobooks will come in handy, you don’t have to hold those! I have Orphanmaster and Shadow of Night too. I’m looking forward to those.
I have to read Fractured Light this month for a tour! It looks pretty good and I just read the prologue so hopefully i’ll get through it quick. Here’s my IMM =)
