Waiting on Wednesday: Golden by Jessi Kirby

September 18, 2012 Waiting on Wednesday, Young Adult 17

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine highlighting upcoming books that we are eagerly anticipating.

Golden by Jessi Kirby

Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, 256 pages

Publication Date: May 14, 2013

From Goodreads:

Seventeen -year-old Parker Frost may be a distant relative of Robert Frost, but she has never taken the road less traveled.  Valedictorian and quintessential good girl, she’s about to graduate high school without ever having kissed her crush or broken the rules.  So when fate drops a mystery in her lap–one that might be the key to uncovering the truth behind a town tragedy, she decides to take a chance.

The cover of this Spring 2013 title was just revealed last week and I think it’s really gorgeous. Jessi Kirby’s books always remind me of summer, and this cover is the most summer-y yet. Ever since I read In Honor, I’ve been looking forward to more contemporary reads from Kirby, and Golden sounds terrific. I like that there is mystery and romance in this story, and am intrigued with the Robert Frost tie in.

What book are you waiting on this week?

The cover is really lovely, but doesn’t seem to fit the story description. I love that! And I love a good mystery. Thanks for the suggestion!

I wasn’t really a huge fan of In Honor, but I can see why so many people loved it. I haven’t read anything else by Jessi Kirby, but this one does sound interesting. I love the cover!

    Thanks for sharing. :)

Oooh, pretty cover. Sounds an interesting book, maybe not my thing with the high school/good girl that doesn’t sound like it has a fantasy element which I particularly like. Nice pick.

I hadn’t heard of this book before today and this is the second time I’ve seen it for a WoW. It sounds really good and I love a good mystery :-)

I hadn’t heard of this book before actually, but I do have In Honour on my Goodreads list. Sounds like something I’d love to try reading :)
