Waiting On The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith

Waiting on WednesdayWaiting on Wednesday is a weekly event brought to you by Breaking the Spine where we spotlight upcoming books we can’t wait to read.

On my wish list this week is a YA contemporary book due out in Spring 2014:

The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith

Publication Date: April 15, 2014 from Little, Brown

Publisher’s summary (from Goodreads) :

The Geography of You and MeLucy and Owen meet somewhere between the tenth and eleventh floors of a New York City apartment building, on an elevator rendered useless by a citywide blackout. After they’re rescued, they spend a single night together, wandering the darkened streets and marveling at the rare appearance of stars above Manhattan. But once the power is restored, so is reality. Lucy soon moves to Edinburgh with her parents, while Owen heads out west with his father.

Lucy and Owen’s relationship plays out across the globe as they stay in touch through postcards, occasional e-mails, and — finally — a reunion in the city where they first met.

A carefully charted map of a long-distance relationship, Jennifer E. Smith’s new novel shows that the center of the world isn’t necessarily a place. It can be a person, too.

The cover on this beauty was just unveiled hours ago so I suspect there will be a lot of us featuring it this week. I love all the covers and titles on Smith’s books and can’t wait to add her latest to my collection.

The premise sounds so cute! Smith comes up with such creative ways for characters to meet, this time during a NYC blackout in an elevator. I also like how long-distance relationships play out in books, with the e-mail exchanges, etc. The cover/title fits the description to a t.

What book(s) are you eagerly anticipating this week?

Oh, this sounds really great! I really like the cover and how it has the blue stars. I still haven’t read Statistical Probability yet (shame on me), but I really want to and this is one to add to my list as well. Also, I am reading Dangerous Girls, too and look forward to seeing what you think about it 🙂

I think this is the best cover of any of her books! I didn’t care for This is What Happy Looks Like, but I think I’ll still give this one a try.

I thought this was a sequel due to the name but it doesn’t sound like – love the continuity with the covers 🙂

  10. I’ve heard so many good things about this author – as soon as I get into another contemporary-type mood, I’m betting this will be one of the first I grab too 🙂
