Mailbox Monday (79)

Mailbox Monday buttonMailbox Monday is a weekly event where we share our latest book arrivals. Link up and find new mailboxes to stalk at the Mailbox Monday blog!

I’m at Disneyland today celebrating my daughter’s birthday! Fun times! Hope your weekend is/was a good one.

Although it may not look like it in my book haul, I did elect to put some books on hold at the library, so soon there should be more “borrowed books” than “bought.”  How do you all decide which books to buy vs. borrow?

Received via book swap: Thanks Debbi <3

we were liars and seeing red

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart – Everyone is loving this book – can’t wait to check it out!

Seeing Red by Kathryn Erskine – Set in the early 1970s in the South, this book sounds intense and is about race relations, family and friendship.

Books for review:

Nope, could not resist the awesome HarperCollins titles on EW:

The Things You Kiss Goodbye by Leslie Connor – A girl has a jock boyfriend and falls for an older guy when the bf starts to act out.

Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy – I’m reading this book now and don’t want to put it down!

The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes – Lainey uses The Art of War as her guidebook to win back her ex. Looks cute!

Don’t Try To Find Me by Holly Brown – The new Reconstructing Amelia / Gone Girl?

And thank you Random House Loveswept:

Live by Mary Ann Rivers – I liked the novella I read by this author and look forward to reading this full-length contemporary romance.

Audiobooks for Review:

Tangled by Emma Chase – Thank you Simon & Schuster Audio – This audio is performed by Sebastian York and is a witty romance. I’ve heard good things about this one!

The Killing Woods by Lucy Christopher – Thank you Audiobook Jukebox & Blackstone Audio – The audio is performed by Fiona Hardingham and Shaun Grindell. Just started listening today and it has an intriguing mystery.

Purchased:

Sweet Thing by Renee Carlino – The ebook has been out for a while but it’s new to pb from Atria.

Before Jamaica Lane by Samantha Young – The latest in the On Dublin Street series. Love these books!

Sister Mischief by Laura Goode – ebook deal

Someone Else’s Love Story by Joshilyn Jackson – ebook deal

Happy birthday to your daughter! I hope that you guys had a fun time at DIsneyland.

These days I try to borrow before I buy unless it’s something that is hard to get our is by a favorite author. Wish I had room or funds to buy everything, but I don’t.

Tangled sounds really fun. You’ll have to let us know about that one. I keep seeing We Were Liars around, too. I hope it’s as good as everyone says.

I hope you have a good week, Lucy!

Thank you! We had so much fun at DL 🙂

I don’t have the funds to buy too many books either. Thank goodness we have a good library network!

Hopefully I’ll start Tangled this week. That one might be up your alley too.

  3. I’ve got my eye on the Samantha Young…
My local library is not very good when it comes to books I’d like to read, so I don’t borrow too many. If it’s difficult to get in Australia/very expensive, I’ll go to the library nearer work or request it (sometimes it can take months). Otherwise it goes on the wishlist and is fulfilled when I have vouchers to spend!

The Samantha Young series is so good! Glad you have a few library options to use. I sometimes have to go outside my network too. Have a good week, Sam!

  10. Oh, my gosh! What a great lot of books! I sadly don’t visit my local library as I should; I have totally full shelves with more coming in all of the time. I also frequent a local indie bookstore that is FABulous! If you buy one title, you get 50% off, two titles-60% off, three titles or more – 70% off, so when I go on a book-buying spree, it never hurts my pocketbook too much when I shop there (although it DOES hurt my arms hauling the heavy bag of books I end up with!) Enjoy your reading week!

Happy Birthday to your daughter! I hope you all have a great time celebrating!

You’ve given me so many books to check out!!

    1. Lucy says:

Thank you! We had lots of fun celebrating her bday 🙂

  12. Leslie says:

Lots of good ones there. I have Someone Else’s Love Story – everyone seems to like that one.

I buy when it’s a book I’m hotly anticipating, it’s an author I already love, or it’s a book I’m likely to reread. Otherwise I reserve/check out from the library. Or… I wait for the library sale.

Great haul! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Killing Woods, as it is on my wishlist. Hope you had a great time at Disneyland – and a late happy birthday to your daughter!
