Top Ten Beachin’ Reads

Top Ten Beachin' Reads

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature from The Broke and the Bookish. This week we’re counting down our Top Ten Beach Reads. I’ll read anything in the summer, though ideally I want a page-turner that will hold my interest through a day at the beach or on vacation. Light romance is nice, as well as an element of mystery.

Here’s my Top Ten Beachin’ Reads:

Beach Approved:

The One That Got Away by Bethany Chase – On sale now. This read is about the guy that slipped through your fingers – what happens when he makes a reappearance, though you’re linked to someone else? This is a witty and romantic escapist read. (More thoughts about the book)

The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord – On sale now. I just finished this one a few days ago and it is really sweet. Paige has a plan to get over her boyfriend’s untimely death but life deals her some interesting curveballs instead. Lovely book about friendship, love, taking chances and accepting yourself.

Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid – On sale July 7, Washington Square Press. This is my current e-reader read and I’m anxious to get back to it. It’s a Sliding Doors-type book about a woman who tries to find happiness – her life plays out one way when she leaves a bar with an old flame and another when she leaves with her friend instead.

The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan – On sale now. If you have royal fever you’ll definitely want to pick up The Royal We. It’s a story inspired by the real-life love story of Kate Middleton and Prince William. (My audiobook review) I guess this one has YA appeal since my teen is reading it now 🙂

The Knockoff by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza – On sale now. This is my current read and it is deliciously fun. It’s about the editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine who returns from leave to find her magazine is now an app- and her former assistant (“All About” Eve) is running the show. I’m listening to the audio (read by Katherine Kellgren) and it’s like a one-woman Broadway show!

I’m tucking these in my beach bag this summer (also the books on my June most-wanted list!)

The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick – On sale August 18, Dial. Can’t wait to read Tim and Alice’s story in this companion to My Life Next Door.

Three Day Summer by Sarvenaz Tash – On sale now. This dual-POV YA 1960s romance is set at Woodstock!

Oh! You Pretty Things by Shanna Mahin – On sale now. This Hollywood story is about celebrity, being a personal assistant, foodie fun, and mother’s behaving badly.

Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll – This book seems like a love it or hate it type but that makes me more curious. It’s a twisty book about Ani, a girl who has everything but is hiding a big secret.

The Life and Death of Sophie Stark by Anna North – On sale now. Sophie Stark is a filmmaker and her story is pieced together by those who knew her best.

So, what books are you taking to the beach this summer?

  6. I fully endorse all of your “approved” reads (except The Knockoff, I haven’t read that one, but it sounds good!) and I’m excited for all of the books you’ll have in your beach bag this summer. I’m totally on the fence about Luckiest Girl Alive, too, but it just sounds so intriguing that even if I’m not sure if I’ll like it I still feel like I have to read it!

  8. I keep seeing The Royal We and it does sound tempting! 🙂

    Check out my TTT.

  9. I’m really interested in The Royal We and also the Taylor Jenkins Reid that you have on your ereader right now. I’m actually reading a sliding doors type book myself called The Bookseller. I love it! So interesting that multiple authors are exploring this technique. 🙂

  10. It was a bit gloomy this weekend but I didn’t mind. It’s always warm here so I am sure we will get some beach reading time in soon. I have a copy of The Start of Me and You that I want to read this summer. The Royal We looks cute, too.
