25 Sizzling September Books and Giveaway

september books

With September brings the start of fall, back to school, and all the books! As always I’m sharing my monthly book roundup that features all the books I’m most excited to read, from middle grade, YA and Adult. And this month you have the chance to enter to win one of these beauties for yourself!

Here are Twenty-Five Sizzling September Books to keep an eye out for:

September 1:

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas – Bloomsbury. Book four in the Throne of Glass series!

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon – Delacorte. A girl can’t leave her house because she’s allergic to everything in this wonderful debut.

Out of Darkness by Ashley Hope Pérez – Carolrhoda LAB. This book takes place in East Texas in the 1930s during the time of the New London school explosion (still the deadliest school disaster in US history) and deals with love, race relations, and family.

Don’t Fail Me Now by Una LaMarche – Razorbill. Five kids embark on a cross-country roadtrip to get closure by visiting a dying relative in this book about family and race.

Truest by Jackie Lea Sommers – Katherine Tegen Books. This small town coming-of-age is about faith, family and love.

The Middle of Somewhere by Sonja Yoerg – NAL. A young widow goes on a hike of self-discovery to deal with her emotional baggage.

The Foxglove Killings by Tara Kelly – Entangled Teen. I’m a fan of this author’s work and intrigued about this murder mystery.

September 8:

Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy – Balzer + Bray. This body positive read sounds like a lot of fun. I can’t wait to meet Willowdean.

Serpentine by Cindy Pon – Month9Books. The first book in the Kingdom of Xia fantasy series is inspired by Chinese mythology.

Drowning is Inevitable by Shalanda Stanley – Knoph Books. Olivia’s deceased mother casts a shadow over her life. She and her friends take off after a violent event in this story of friendship and love.

Fans of the Impossible Life by Kate Scelsa – Balzer + Bray. This story is about finding yourself and friendship, and features lgbtq characters, romance, and mental illness. Sounds like my kind of read!

September 15:

The Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore – Thomas Dunne. Two traveling circus families are in a long-standing feud- and a romance between two members of the families complicates matters.

Tonight the Streets are Ours by Leila Sales – Farrar, Straus & Giroux. I loved This Song Will Save Your Life and am curious about this book about a girl who heads to NYC to track down a favorite blogger.

Dark Wild Night by Christina Lauren – The third book in the Wild Seasons series centers around Lola and Oliver.

Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling – Crown Archetype. I love Mindy’s first book (and The Mindy Project) and look forward to more of her humorous essays.

September 22:

Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson – Flatiron Books. I just loved Lawson’s first book and can’t wait to see what’s in store with her follow-up.

After You by Jojo Moyes – Penguin. I still can’t believe Me Before You has a sequel!

Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs – Quirk. The conclusion to the Miss Peregrine series!

The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin – Little, Brown. This middle grade book is about a young girl grieving over her best friend who she lost in a drowning accident.

What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler – Harper Teen. Rape culture is examined in this very timely book.

Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson – Greenwillow Books. The first book in the Gold Seer trilogy features an Old West setting.

September 29:

All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely – Atheneum. This topical book looks at a police brutality incident from the pov of the black victim and the white witness.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo – Henry Holt & Co. I don’t read a lot of fantasy but everyone is loving this one.

Rules for Stealing Stars by Corey Ann Haydu – Katherine Tegen Books. This middle grade read is about Silly and her three sisters. They hide out in a magical world to escape from the troubles of home.

The Bollywood Bride by Sonali Dev – Kensington. I really enjoyed The Bollywood Affair and can’t wait to read Ria and Vikram’s story.
