#YADiversityBookClub: Delicate Monsters by Stephanie Kuehn

In the YA Diversity Book Club, we chat about the latest YA books that celebrate diversity. Our book club includes Sandie @ Teen Lit Rocks and Kristan @ We Heart YA. Each month we’ll focus on one book with a book review (our discussion chat) and bonus features.

Our December book club pick is Stephanie Kuehn’s DELICATE MONSTERS. We have all been interested in reading this author’s work and had a great discussion about Delicate Monsters- a gripping, intense book. This book features three tormented teens whose lives intersect in the California wine country. Mental illness has been a big trend in YA this year and Stephanie Kuehn writes one of the most haunting stories I’ve read this year.

  1. Sandy says:

I am intrigued by the synopsis, what is the secret? How is this secret going to erupt in violence?

  2. The fact that this book tackles mental illness appeals to me. Thanks for the giveaway.

  3. We Heart YA says:

Oohh yeah, forgot about WE WERE LIARS. Def could appeal to the same kind of readers, although WWL is more tragic while DELICATE MONSTERS is more disturbing.

We’ve been wanting to read DANGEROUS GIRLS, so thanks for the reminder!

There might also be some overlap between the audience of Stephanie Kuehn, Courtney Summers, and Amy Reed.
