About
My name is Lucy- welcome to The Reading Date! Here I will share my thoughts on YA and Adult Fiction books, movies and bookish events. My favorite genres currently are Contemporary YA, New Adult, and Romance.
I started this blog in Summer 2010 as a way to keep track of and review the books I read and to chat about books with other readers. I enjoy discussing books and sharing recommendations with other readers and bloggers and welcome you to join in the discussion. I have a family full of readers, and my daughter and I share YA books all the time. Look for her POV in reviews occasionally.
Andrew is The Reading Date’s movie critic and shares his thoughts on movie releases on The Movie Date feature.
I am currently accepting books for review, and am available to promote books through giveaways, interviews, and blog tours. Take a look at the books I’ve read this year and anticipated new releases list (It’s a Date) to get an idea of the types of books I cover.
I usually have a book, an e-book, and an audiobook in progress at all times so I’m never without something to read. Check out my 2013 reading challenges here.
I’ve started listening to audiobooks more frequently over the past year and have fallen in love with this format. You will notice more audiobook reviews in the regular rotation because audiobooks allow me to get more “reading” in when time is short. I will include my thoughts of the book and audio production in my reviews.
Besides reading I enjoy cooking, pop culture, movies and TV shows such as Parks & Recreation, Nashville, The Mindy Project, Homeland and The Americans. I get my pop culture fix annually by attending San Diego Comic-Con.

Hey nice to discover this blog…I am great reading enthusiast, used to be a voracious reader in my college…reading almost a fiction every weekend!! but well after starting work..hardly get time and reading is a thing of past!
I appreciate your reviews and will certainly try a couple of books from your 2011 reading list..so it better be good
ditto!
i read about 30 books this past year. good luck with your goal!!!!!! I got a new found love of reading when I started working and therefore commuting for two hours a day. it’s a good way to get away from your day and unwind.
Hi! What a cute blog! I’ll look forward to reading about the books you suggest…hopefully it will give me some ideas.
Hello,
I’m new to the world of book blogging although I have been reading them for years. I just wanted to say ‘hi’ and that I have been enjoying your blog.
All the best
Jules
Lucy, I just had to tell you, It’s so funny that you and I have a similar career background. I was in wholesale for years then switched to product development, then retail buying which slowly turned into planning. I left to become a stay at home mom before the planning position went into full effect but I just thought it was funny to meet someone with a similar history. It seems like so many bloggers I meet are librarians or in fields I’ve never been a part of. I’m rambling, I know.
Great blog!
That is a coincidence that we both have retail backgrounds. I think many Planners are introverts, and that would make sense that we are readers too
Glad you are enjoying blogging, and I’m glad to find another WP book blogger!
Hello! We nominated you!

Hey Lucy,
I’ve read your blog for about nearly a year, and I’d just like to say what a wonderful job you’ve done on this site and on goodreads!
I’ve just started a new blog sort of thing a few days ago, I’m still sorting things out, but once it’s all good, I hope to promote your blog, but I don’t know how!
