My Thoughts:

Please note this review does contain some spoilers from the first two books in the trilogy and some light spoilers from Spy Glass.

It’s hard to believe we have come to the end of the Glass trilogy already. I read all three books (Storm Glass, Sea Glass, and Spy Glass) pretty much back to back this year. It has been an exciting and emotional adventure for our heroine Opal Cowan.

I have to say Spy Glass was full of surprises – I could not have predicted any of the plot twists that were presented in this book.  Spy Glass picks up right after Sea Glass left off – Opal is living at home and depressed after losing her powers. An unexpected visitor sparks an idea for a spy mission to find her missing blood. She must decide how to find the blood, and what to do with it when she finds it. Can she use it to regain her magic?

Opal is in a dark place in this latest installment with a lot of decisions to make.  What is her role now that her powers are gone? Does she want to try to build a life with the Stormdancer Kade? Or will she act on her feelings for the imprisoned Devlen?

Opal faces her biggest trials yet in this final book. The action is non-stop, Opal is constantly threatened by her enemies who want her blood for their own gains. The villains are especially sinister and threatening.

Opal uses her inner strength to face her challenges, and pushes herself to become physically stronger and to learn spy techniques. She also shows her compassionate and sensitive side, caring for those around her. She’s willing to take some new characters under her wing, and to lend her support when needed.

We meet some intriguing new characters in this book, as well as seeing some old favorites who help her on her missions. Opal and Valek make a great team. And it was great to see Opal realize she has a herd of supporters on her side.

I could not have predicted the conclusion to this series but I found it very satisfying. It was a pleasure to read about Opal’s journey in these magical lands of Ixia and Sitia, and see her growth in the series. The author speculated on her blog that although this is the last book in the Glass/Study series, she sees potential in Heli (the young Stormdancer), Quinn and Fisk. Would love to read another trilogy set in this world.

Thank you to Harlequin/Mira publishing and NetGalley for providing this E-Book for review.
