Waiting on Wednesday: Delirium by Lauren Oliver

For my first time participating in the  “Waiting on” Wednesday meme, I had to choose the book that is on the the top of my most anticipated list!

Title: Delirium

Author: Lauren Oliver

Publication Date: February 1 2011

Publisher:  HarperCollins

Genre: YA Dystopia

Description from the publisher:

In Lauren Oliver’s stunning second novel, love has been declared a dangerous disease, and the government forces everyone who reaches eighteen to have a procedure called the cure. Lena Haloway is very much looking forward to being cured and living a safe, predictable life. But then she meets enigmatic Alex, who lives under the government’s radar. What will happen if they do the unthinkable and fall in love?

Lauren Oliver follows up her incandescent debut, the New York Times bestseller Before I Fall, with this extraordinary novel about a high-stakes romance set in a dystopian United States. Delirium presents a world as terrifying as The Hunger Games and a romance as true as Romeo and Juliet.

Lauren Oliver’s first novel Before I Fall  is one of my favorite books that I read this year, and I have been excited to read Ms. Oliver’s follow up. Delirium has generated great early buzz and I can’t wait to read it for myself.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating! Want to participate? Post your own WoW entry on your blog, and leave your link at Breaking the Spine.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is “waiting on!”

I have not read much dystopian fiction, but I keep seeing people’s glowing reviews of that genre, so I think I’ll have to give it a try…
