Monthly wrap-up: January 2011

January has come to a close, and I managed to read 11 books this month. Overall I’m really pleased with the quality and the quantity of books I read.

I started listening to more audiobooks and am really enjoying that format. I can listen to them while working out or doing the dishes and it makes those tasks much easier to manage. Speaking of which, do you have any great audiobook recommendations?

This is the first month I have participated in book tours. This is not something I plan to do every month, but thought I would try it out and see how it goes.

Four of the eleven books were e-books read on my Kindle. I still have many ebooks to get through. I need to challenge myself to get through them all before I can buy more.

2011 Debut Authors:  5/20

YA Historical Fiction: 0/15

Contemps: No change this month, still 3/19

Dystopian: 2/15

WordPress PostADay challenge: Fail! I blogged 25/31 days. Posting everyday is not a realistic goal for me, but I can live with that. Will try to maintain a 4-5 days per week blogging schedule.

For February I would be thrilled to have a similar reading month, and read another 10 or so books.

What were your favorite books read in January? Happy reading!

Have you tried Playaways? They are small self-contained audio books. You just add earphones and battery. These Playaways have many book titles available… both best sellers and classics. Try your local library.

    1. Interesting- I have never heard of Playaways. Have not seen them at the library yet. Thanks for the tip!

Linger (the sequal to Shiver) by Maggie Stiefvater has a great audio book! They have different voices for each character, and there is singing! Its one of the only audio books I have liked better than reading it by myself.

    1. That sounds awesome! I have read Linger but wouldn’t mind checking out the audiobook. I like when there are different readers for the characters, and singing too! Thanks for the tip 🙂

Cool site. I need to re-add audiobooks into the equation. I always get them from the library, too, but then I forget to turn them back in and I get in trouble!! Still, it’s a big help in adding reading material.

I read so many good books in January – it was definitely a big reading month for me, too! If I had to pick favorites for January…Beastly by Alex Finn, Going Bovine by Libba Bray, and True Grit by Charles Portis would top the list!
