2012-2013, Your Audiobook Year
Are you new to audiobooks in the last year? Have you been listening to them forever but discovered something new this year? Favorite titles? New times/places to listen? This is your chance to introduce yourself and your general listening experience.
I’m not new to audiobooks, but I’d say in the last year my percentage of books read via audio has grown a bit. Since last year’s audiobook week, I’ve listened to 54 audiobooks, and that is about 40% of my total books read, and about 50% more than last year. I sometimes toy with the idea of only reviewing audiobooks since there’s not a lot of us that focus on them so heavily, but I don’t think I’m ready to go there just yet.
I listen to audiobooks during the day, when I’m exercising, doing household chores, anytime really. I tend to read my print books only at night during the week. There’s no way I’d get as many books “read” without audiobooks.
Lately I’m noticing that I’m listening to more Adult Fiction or Romance titles, while I read more YA books in print. I take more chances on books outside my comfort zone via audiobook, from humor, sports and music memoirs to erotica. So, consequently my blog is getting a little more eclectic and I’m good with that.

Wow, so many awesome audiobooks to check out! I don’t think I get adventurous enough with my audiobook listening – I tend to pick whatever is available that strikes my fancy, but I stick to the same type of book – something that I think will be fast paced and action packed, which tends to be young adult.
I love that with audiobooks, I get more books read each year, too! I haven’t listened to any of the ones you’ve listed, but have been seeing a lot of Meg Wolitzer’s book, so I definitely need to check that one out. I tend to vary what I listen to – romance, thriller, historical fiction…whatever I am in the mood for when I need a new audio.

You’ve listened to some awesome books on audio. Even though I’ve read The Fault in Our Stars I still want to listen on audio again, because it seems like it would be great on audio too! (Bella/Audios & More)
I definitely tend to listen outside of my normal comfort zone as well! I’ve even picked up audiobooks that I would have never ever considered in print. I wonder if this is because reading time needs to be set-aside but audiobook time is usually coupled with multitasking (for me my daily work commute). I keep meaning to get to Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
I loved the audio of Eleanor and Park. I’ve been listening to more audios lately too.
I take more chances with audiobooks, too. It seems like less of a commitment to me.
Audiobooks help me read a lot more book, too! I have all three of your fiction choices on my wish list and The Fault in Our Stars is waiting on my iPhone.
I’m much more likely to read books outside my comfort zone via audiobook, too! Somehow, having someone read it aloud, makes a book that I’m stressed about a little easier to read. I listened to Cinder, because I hate science fiction, but ended up loving the book. I’ve been listening to audiobooks sporadically since I was in high school. When I was commuting a lot for school, I was listening to them all the time. But then I got a job very close to my house, so my commute was so short, that I didn’t listen to them a lot anymore. But since I’ve started blogging, I’ve really gotten into them again. I just finished Stargirl today, and oh my gosh, SUCH AN AMAZING BOOK!
Okay, I’m adding Tell The Wolves I’m Home and The Best Of Us to my TBL. I love Cassandra Campbell and Amy Rubinate is someone I have wanted to listen to.
I’ve toyed with the idea of going audio only myself. What’s held me back is that I don’t think I could listen enough to come up with enough content. Recently there hasn’t been a whole lot of content anyway, so maybe it would take some of the pressure off of me. 🙂 I do love audiobooks, though. I’ll probably keep thinking about it until I take the plunge someday.

Chiming in with the crowd to say I’m definitely more adventurous in audio. I don’t generally read a lot of romances, but I wonder if that genre would work better for me in audio….hmmmm…
I loved the Fault in Our Stars too! And I have it on my list. LOL! I have been thinking about getting the audiobook of Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? I think I will now. I love your blog and we are sooo on the same boat as in more audiobooks than books.
