Devoured and All Over You by Emily Snow Audiobook Reviews

Today I have a romance two-fer review for you, with Emily Snow’s addictive Devoured series.

Sienna Jensen is a wardrobe assistant in Los Angeles, who heads home to Nashville to help her grandmother whose house has been foreclosed. She goes to court and finds herself eye to eye with bad boy rocker Lucas Wolfe, the guy that messed with her head when they met on the set of his music video. Now, he’s the guy holding the deed to her grandma’s home, and the only way Sienna can get it back is if she spends ten days with him and follows his rules.

All Over You by Emily Snow audioDevoured is an erotic romance, loose retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Red-haired Sienna is Little Red, with Lucas Wolfe of course as the big bad wolf. And there’s a kindly grandmother who needs saving to tie it all together. Lucas and Sienna have a dangerous attraction to each other, and a past that neither has forgotten. Can she trust him this time?

I listened to the prequel novella, All Over You, first, and I recommend you do the same. But whichever one you read first, you’ll want to have the next book handy to see what happens. All Over You takes place two years before Devoured and describes the first meeting between Lucas and Sienna on the set of Your Toxic Sequel’s music video. One thing that’s different about All Over You is that you get both Lucas and Sienna’s POV, where Devoured is just from Sienna’s perspective. The novella sets up Devoured and shows you the heat and attraction between Lucas and Sienna, and fills in the blanks about their falling out.

Two years later in Devoured, Lucas and Sienna reunite in Nashville, and neither has gotten the other out of their Devoured by Emily Snow audiobookhead. Lucas is the hot, jerky alpha male with demons in the closet, and the less experienced Sienna also has her family troubles that she’s dealing with. There is much angst and push and pull between the pair, though the chemistry is undeniable. Sienna holds a grudge about her and Lucas’ previous encounter so when the book starts out her only motivation is to save her grandmother’s home. Theirs is a slow burn romance that keeps you guessing.

There is a good mix of story and sexy times in the book, and though the book is marketed as an erotic romance, I think fans of New Adult will enjoy it as well.

The author introduces several side characters that add interest to the story. I liked the friendship between Sienna and Lucas’ sister, Kylie. Also, I enjoyed the scenes featuring Lucas’ band, Your Toxic Sequel, and hope there are more of his band mates in the next book. Don’t expect all the loose ends to be tied up in Devoured, there’s

Thoughts on the audiobook narration, performed by Elizabeth Louise, and published by Simon Audio:

All Over You – running time 1 hour, 47 minutes, release date May 21, 2013

Devoured – running time 6 hours, 13 minutes, release date May 28 2013

Narrator Elizabeth Louise performs both Devoured and All Over You. If her voice sounds familiar, Louise also narrates Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker, and the Thoughtless series by S.C. Stephens under the name Rebekkah Ross. Louise is one of my favorite contemporary romance narrators and can easily manage both rock star Lucas’s voice, as well as the innocent Sienna. Her male voices sound natural and not overdone, and she makes the different female characters voices distinct as well. She’s comfortable performing the sexy scenes so that puts the listener at ease. The audiobooks are short and sweet, and brings the reader into the story. Personally, I hope to continue to story in Consumed by Emily Snowaudiobook format because I like the narrator, though this is a book series that can be equally enjoyed in print.

The Devoured series is dangerous and sexy and perfect for fans of tattooed bad boy rockers and erotic romance books, and are quick reads you can devour on the beach. Look for the sequel, Consumed, in stores September 17.

Here’s an audio clip from Devoured with Elizabeth Louise:

Thanks to Touchstone Books and Simon & Schuster Audio for providing review copies of Devoured and All Over You. Tidal by Emily SnowAll Over You is available now in e-book or audiobook format, and Devoured is available in paperback, e-book or audiobook format.

Emily Snow’s New Adult book Tidal, which I read last year as a self-published novel, is also newly out in paperback and audiobook form. Tidal features a romance between a troubled Hollywood starlet and her Australian surf instructor, and is set in Hawaii. I like the career choices and exotic settings in Emily Snow’s books!

Yes, definitely a good series to take on holiday!

  2. I read these earlier this year, I guess when they were still self-published. I liked them, but I had no idea they were supposed to be loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood. I guess his last name is Wolf and there’s a grandma? I still don’t know if I get it.

    Great review!

I didn’t get the LRRH tie-in when I first read it either. I guess that instead of saving the grandma, Red/Sienna has to save her house? Wonder if there will be more to it in the next book.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Devoured, Maggie!:)

i’ve seen this series around but didn’t know anything about it. looks like i may have to give it a try and start with the novella.

  4. Oh, this sounds really interesting! While I often worry about these sort of stories having more than their fair share of melodrama, sometimes it’s simply nice to be swept away by the emotion and passion in a novel. These sound like the perfect books to enjoy over a fruity martini one summer afternoon. I’ll definitely be adding them to my ever-growing TBR list!

Thanks for the great (and really helpful and informative) review! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed these books and now I can only hope that I will too 🙂
