Blog Tour: Finally, Forever by Katie Kacvinsky Cover Story

Finally, Forever tour banner

This is a big year for Katie Kacvinsky! She has TWO series’ ending this year, and this week we get to find out the conclusion to the First Comes Love series with Finally, Forever. I don’t have this book in my  hands yet, so I’m eager for the May 9th release date to arrive to see how Gray and Dylan’s story ends.

About Finally, Forever:

finally, forever

Author’s Note: Can be read as book three of the First Comes Love series, or as a standalone .

College baseball player, Gray Thomas, had to go far out into left field to find a girl like Dylan, the ex-love-of-his-life. More than a year later, literally at a crossroads, they find each other together on a journey that is a pause between a painful past and an uncertain future. In this sexy and offbeat summer read, Gray and Dylan discover that a destination isn’t always a place. More often, it’s a person. Now it’s time for them to finally decide, is this forever?

I’m excited to welcome Katie to the blog today to talk about the inspiration behind the Finally, Forever cover. Take it away, Katie:

Hi Lucy, and hello to everyone who is taking the time to read my guest post today. Thanks for “having” me at The Reading Date! I wanted to talk about the cover design for my upcoming release, Finally, Forever, and what inspired it.

I designed the cover myself. I know most authors prefer to work with a graphic designer for multiple reasons, and I’ve done that in the past, but for this book I decided to take on the creative challenge.

The main female character in my novel, Dylan, is a photographer and a wanderer, so I tried to snap a picture that I felt was fitting for her. The dusty, worn-in shoes (which are actually a pair of my old tennis shoes) represent her traveling lifestyle. The heart shape not only represents the love story in the book, but it reflect Dylan’s personality—how she spreads love out wherever she goes, and how she embraces life.  I love hearts on covers—it’s one of my favorite images, especially when they’re designed in a creative way. The background in the photo is obviously just a wood porch. That’s actually the wood floor of the screened-in porch in my backyard.

When I posted the cover reveal two months ago, one of my fans pointed out that the background is gray. She said, “That is so fitting of Gray! Did you mean to do that?” She’s referring to Gray, the name of the lead male character in this story.  I love that she pointed this out, because that wasn’t even my intention, but it’s SO fitting.  It helps tie Gray in perfectly, especially since I would argue he is the main character in this book.

The cover also ties in a cool scene in the story, when Dylan contemplates where wisdom comes from. I love it when a cover is connected to an actual scene in the book and that’s something I’ve always wanted to experiment with for one of my own novels.

I hope the cover draws you in and makes you want to read Finally, Forever on May 9th.  It’s a fun, quirky, sexy, and inspiring read. I promise you have never read anything quite like it. I can’t wait to share it with all of you!

Also, if any of you who would like a bookmark featuring this cover, I am sending them away for free to any US addresses until I run out. For more information, just visit my website post!  http://katiekacvinskybooks.wordpress.com/2014/04/21/old-school-style/

  3. Love this cover & I’m impressed Katie put it together herself. It’s really eye popping. I have only read the first book of this series but I’m curious where it all went… I was pleasantly surprised by First Comes Love.

    Thanks for sharing Lucy!
