The New York Times best-selling author of Beautiful BastardBeautiful Stranger, and Beautiful Player starts a brand new story of friends, love, and lust with Book One of the Wild Seasons series. One-night stands are supposed to be with someone convenient, or wickedly persuasive, or regrettable. They aren’t supposed to be with someone like him. But after a crazy Vegas weekend celebrating her college graduation - and terrified of the future path she knows is a cop-out - Mia Holland makes the wildest decision of her life: follow Ansel Guillaume - her sweet, filthy fling - to France for the summer and just…play. When feelings begin to develop behind the provocative roles they take on, and their temporary masquerade adventures begin to feel real, Mia will have to decide if she belongs in the life she left because it was all wrong, or in the strange new one that seems worlds away.

Hey, Christina Lauren fans! Are you sad that the Beautiful Bastard series is almost over? Well dry your tears because you will love their newest venture, Sweet Filthy Boy, book one of the Wild Seasons series. The romance in SFB is playful and hot, the love interest is a French lawyer who rides a motorcycle, and the setting is Paris. Mia is freshly out of college and about to head to business school to please her dad, and her Las Vegas fling with Ansel leads to an impulsive summer stay at his Paris apartment. Their friends don’t get this fast-paced relationship but Mia and Ansel may just prove them wrong.

Honeymoon in Vegas – Mia and Ansel take the fast track with their relationship – their drunken Las Vegas hook-up results in a marriage. Getting an annulment is a no-brainer, right? Except instead these two decide to put that plan on pause and have a little more fun at Ansel’s pad in Paris. Mia is avoiding some things in San Diego and Ansel is the perfect distraction.

An American in Paris – Summer in Paris- what could be better? Well, it would help if Mia spoke French, or if workaholic Ansel was around a bit more to keep her company. Seriously, buy a book and learn some French, Mia! OK, Ansel does write down some handy phrases for her to learn- some not so appropriate, but still. Mia makes the most of her Paris holiday, and goes sightseeing and makes a few friends. Luckily she has an international cell phone plan to check in with her BFF’s Harlow and Lola.

A Burning Hot Summer  – Ansel and Mia move in together as near-strangers, even though they are technically Mr. and Mrs. Guillaume. And things are very awkward once the alcohol wears off. Since they are strangers passing in the night due to Ansel’s long work hours, desperate times call for desperate measures and Mia thinks of creative ways to break the ice. Costume shop, anyone?

Before Sunset – Mia and Ansel have sizzling chemistry but is it enough to keep them together knowing that Mia has a school commitment in Boston, and Ansel lives in Paris? Plus, what about these mysterious phone calls and middle of the night visits Ansel receives? These two help each other see what they really want in life, but there are some rough patches ahead.

Écoute le TempsShayna Thibodaux (aka Candace Thaxton) performs this audiobook, and I’m familiar with her narration from The Sea of Tranquility. (Sidebar: It’s so confusing when audiobook narrators use pseudonyms- it makes it harder to follow you!) The Beautiful Bastard series has a different narrator, Grace Grant, who I am a fan of- however; I think it was a good idea to start fresh with a new narrator here. Thibodaux has a sassy voice for Mia, and also has a mean French accent for Ansel. The audiobook brings the setting and Ansel and Mia’s relationship to life. I didn’t want to stop listening to this one.

Listen to a sample of Shayna Thibodaux performing Sweet Filthy Boy. This scene is when Ansel and his friends’ loud partying in Vegas is keeping Mia up:

Finale – This series promises to be a lot of fun! Ansel and Mia are a playful root-worthy couple, and their romance is hot and spicy. But, I also appreciated the other aspects of their stories- like doing what you love in your career and not living your life for someone else.

Read Sweet Filthy Boy if you like: Christina Lauren’s Beautiful Bastard series, playful erotic romance, and Paris!

  1. I loved this book! Maybe not quite as much as Beautiful Stranger (Max and Sara are my favorite), but I thought it was great. The perfect thing to follow up the Beautiful series with.

  2. I’ve never read anything by this author, but I really enjoyed that audio sample, thanks for sharing it!
