Mailbox Monday is a weekly event where we share our latest book arrivals. Link up and find new mailboxes to stalk at the Mailbox Monday blog.

Books in the mail:

Night Blindness by Susan Strecker – This one is coming out in paperback later this month- have any of you read it yet? It’s about a woman who returns home after several years away to face the secrets buried in the past.

Sweet Madness by Trisha Leaver and Lindsay Currie – This is a fictional retelling of the Lizzie Borden murders from the pov of Lizzie’s maid Bridget.

The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler – I won this from Ginger at GReads in her Sweet Summertime Reads Giveaway. Thanks, Ginger! This one is a spin on The Little Mermaid and is about a girl trying to find her voice again. I need to read this one soon to drag out summer a little longer.

Slasher Girls & Monster Boys stories selected by April Genevieve Tucholke – This YA horror anthology features stories by Leigh Bardugo, Marie Lu, Jay Kristoff, and many more.

Audiobooks:

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas, read by Elizabeth Evans – Book four in the Throne of Glass series is a whopper! I’m listening to this 20-houur audiobook now.

The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich, read by Charlotte Parry and Christian Coulson – Can you tell we’re getting close to Halloween? This psychological thriller is about a deadly fire at a high school, and the set of twins that may be involved. Oh, and the twins share one body and one of them is missing. Creepy!

Review eBooks:

All Together Now by Gill Hornby – A small English town bands together to save the community choir – it sounds really quirky and cute.

The Smell of Other People’s Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock – This YA historical fiction is set in 1970 Alaska and is about the lives of four teens whose lives intersect.

Thanks so much to: GReads, Hachette Audio, St. Martin’s Press, Merit Press, Little, Brown, and Penguin Random House.

Don’t forget to enter to win a September book – this international giveaway ends in just a few days!

I hesitate to read your review on Harriet Wolf till I read that. But I am glad that you liked it. 🙂
Night Blindness sounds interesting and I like the cover.
I gather you have enjoyed the Throne of Glass books since you are starting book 4. I will probably end up reading them on Audible if I like the first one.
The Dead House does sound creepy. 🙂
I almost selected All Together Now. I will watch for your thoughts.
BTW – the link from Mailbox Monday took me to Blogloving twice. Then I googled your site and it came up on a Jul 24 post and home wouldn’t let me get to the current date. Something glitchy maybe?
    Have a good week!

These are all new to me. I’ve seen Night Blindness on a few other blogs this week. It sounds good – I must have missed it when it was first published last year.

  7. […] The Smell of Other People’s Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock @The Reading Date […]

  8. I love books of known stories told from a different point of view, so Sweet Madness sounds great.
