Mailbox Monday (173)

mailbox monday 173

Mailbox Monday is a weekly event where we share our latest book arrivals. Link up and find new mailboxes to stalk at the Mailbox Monday blog.

Happy Sunday! It’s a rare rainy day in my neck of the woods- perfect reading weather! My book mail has been pretty light for the last few weeks but I have a few new arrivals to share:

Fallen Land by Taylor Brown – This is a Civil War era love story in the vein of Cold Mountain. I’m giving away a copy and today’s the last day to enter if you’re interested!

The Middle of Somewhere by Sonja Yoerg – A young widow goes on a three-week hiking trip to deal with her emotional baggage, and her boyfriend tags along. Will she lose him if he finds out her secrets?

The New Guy (and Other Senior Year Distractions) by Amy Spalding – Jules is focused on getting into her first-choice Ivy League college until she’s distracted by the new guy. This one has a cover redesign which you can see in the title link.

And, here are some new arrivals to my digital mailbox:

Adult:

One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid – This one comes out in June but I’m chomping at the bit to read it now. This one is about a woman torn between her fiancé and the husband she thought was long dead. Sounds like a heart-wrenching read!

Not Working by Lisa Owens – Londoner Claire quits her job to try to find her true purpose. This one is being compared to Bridget Jones Diary.

A Night in With Audrey Hepburn by Lucy Holliday – The first in a new trilogy (A Night in with Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly follow) this one is about an Audrey Hepburn-obsessed actress who gets a little help with her career from her idol.

An Innocent Fashion by RJ Hernandez – Yale grad Ethan gets his dream job at a fashion magazine but quickly becomes disillusioned. Described as “the literary love-child of The Devil Wears Prada and The Bell Jar.”

YA:

The Darkest Corners by Kara Thomas – This psychological thriller sounds so good!

How it Feels to Fly by Kathryn Holmes – A ballerina goes to a treatment camp for help with managing her body dysmorphia and anxiety.

A Season for Fireflies by Rebecca Maizel – This story is about love and second chances, as a girl loses her memory and tries to correct the past.

The Season of You and Me by Robin Constantine – Cassidy just got broken up with, and Bryan is back working at a summer camp, the first summer since he lost the use of his legs. Neither was expecting to fall in love.

Audiobooks:

After being in a terrible audiobook rut I’m back on track again. The library came through with some awesome listens and you can see I went a little overboard below. (I usually check out a lot of options and sample them to see which ones I want to listen to.) I just finished The Guest Room yesterday and now I’m listening to The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend. I think I’m going to listen to When Breath Becomes Air next. And yes, this is the year I’m going to listen to Harry Potter!

  4. Wow! It looks like a great mailbox full of wonderful books. They all look good. I suspect Harry Potter will be fun to listen too. I haven’t read the Harry Potter books and only saw one movie, but enjoyed it. Enjoy all of your new books!

I hope you enjoy all of these – so many books!

I love the premise for Sonja Yoerg’s books, I wonder what her secrets are? The New Guy (and Other Senior Year Distractions) and The Season of You and Me sound fun too, I love a little YA romance! Ooooh and Not Working sounds good, loving the BJ comparison! I hope I find myself reading How it Feels to Fly one day – the topic of body dysmorphia is definitely an interesting one to find in a YA.
