Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday is a weekly event where we share our latest book arrivals. Link up and find new mailboxes to stalk at the Mailbox Monday blog. I post my mailbox hauls about twice a month.

I’m still recovering from Readathon, how about you? Did you get a lot of reading done? I did more listening than reading but it was fun! It helped me to get out of my reading slump so that’s a good thing.

I’ve been having light-ish mailbox weeks lately but I’m always happy to get more time to catch up with the TBR pile.

Here are some of the books that have made their way to me this past week:

mailbox monday the mothers miracle on 5th avenue

The Mothers by Brit Bennett purchase from Book of the Month – Set in a Black community in Southern California, this debut is about three friends and how their choices one fateful summer follow them over the years. Such a pretty cover, and I need to make time to read this one soon.

Miracle on 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan from Harlequin- I never get to read enough holiday reads but maybe starting in October will help! Eva is a house-sitter who gets snowbound in a 5th Ave. penthouse with a bestselling crime writer (and the penthouse owner). Will these opposites find happiness over the holidays?

Digital Mailbox

We Are Still Tornadoes by Michael Kun and Susan Mullen from St. Martin’s Griffin/Netgalley – I almost wrote tomatoes instead of tornadoes, ha! This story is set in the ’80s and is about two best friends who still turn to each other when they go off to different colleges. Are they meant to be more than friends?

How to Break a Boy by Laurie Devore from Macmillan Children’s/Netgalley – Love the cover! Olivia gets into a war with her former BFF and things get very messy.

Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia from St. Martin’s Press/Netgalley – Looking forward to reading this vampire urban fantasy before Halloween!

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas from Balzer+Bray /Edelweiss – This very buzzy book is inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and a film adaptation is already in the works. This is a top priority read for me!

Audiobooks

Still Life with Tornado by A.S. King, read by Karissa Vacker, borrowed from Overdrive – Another tornado/tomato book!  Sarah is an artist that is currently unable to draw.  She deals with the past and tries to find her way through meetings with her different selves. (If you’ve read this author before then this all makes sense)

White-Hot Hack by Tracy Garvis Graves, read by Kristin Condon, Whispersync purchase – This is the second book and final book in the Kate and Ian series. Can’t wait to see how it ends.

What’s new in your mailbox?

  1. I’m dying to get my hands on The Mothers and anything by A. S. King is well worth reading.

  2. You have two books with the word tornado in it. What are the chances? I like the one set in the 80s. It’s the era I grew up in. Hope you love all your new books and audiobooks.

  3. I got The Mothers last week…can’t wait to start reading it. Enjoy your book bonanza…and thanks for visiting my blog.
