In My Mailbox is a weekly event hosted by The Story Siren & inspired by Pop Culture Junkie. It is a way to feature the books you purchased, traded, borrowed or received for review each week.
This week I received:
Audiobooks For Review: (links to Audible)
Crossed by Ally Condie – Audiobook (Penguin)
Here There Be Monsters by Meljean Brook – Audiobook (Penguin)
Netgalley E-Books for Review:
Pure by Julianna Baggott
Bought:
Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park – Paperback edition. I have already read and loved this book. My daughter is reading it a second time for a book report.
The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa – Paperback edition to complete my Iron Fey collection.
What did you get in your mailbox this week?
She’s doing a book report on My book?!?!? Wow. That is incredibly cool. I would absolutely love to read it if she’d be willing to share. I’m so honored.
Yes, they were asked to choose a Contemporary book to report on and she chose your book. It’s due in December and I’ve asked if she’d share it with you 🙂
Oh, that would be amazing! Please tell her to get in touch with me if she wants a quote or help of any kind. I can’t begin to tell you how much this means to me. Amazing!
When do you listen to audiobooks? I really enjoy them but I tend to list to them in bed and I end up falling asleep!
I got Pure last week too. I’m excited to read that one! I hope you enjoy it.
I listen to audiobooks when I’m doing the dishes or other chores or exercising. I’d probably fall asleep listening to them in bed too.
Pure does look good!
Nothing at the moment, but i plan to go and buy! Oh, i actually did get one book for review! 🙂
Great mailbox!
Awesome haul! I got Pure last week too!

I’m super interested to hear what you think of Crossed on audio. I couldn’t really handle Matched but I think my tolerance level is much higher when I’m being entertained by an audiobook. (and I loved FOL as well:)) I need to catch up on the Iron Fey series! Also, Wendy and a few other GR people have said that Pure is super inventive and an interesting read. I had no idea that it was more adult than YA. Evidently there is crazy world-building going on. Great haul this week, Lucy:)
Thanks Flannery! I’m more excited to check out Pure – glad it’s getting some good buzz. I’m not too far into Crossed yet and I feel a little lost since I’ve forgotten what happened in Matched. I also find I’m more patient with audiobooks, unless the narrator isn’t right.
The Iron Knight! I’ve seen much of those around. 🙂 Seems interesting.
Lately, I’ve been hearing quite a number of rave reviews about audio books – apparently there’s theater and panache with the way the words are read… hmm… I just might have to give it a shot.
I smiled when I saw the copy of ‘Here there be Monsters’ – it reminded me of Jane Yolen’s series on ‘Here there be Witches’ and ‘Here there be dragons’ – i thought it was the same thing. Haha. Wrong! 🙂
Yes, Myra when you are short on time audiobooks are another way to get more reading in. I find I’m enjoying them more and more. It’s all about the narrator, so I’d pick one that’s well reviewed, and maybe a book you’re already familiar with to start with.
Here There Be Monsters is part of a steampunk/zombie/historical series. I’ve heard of Jane Yolen too, but I guess they are a little different 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
The Iron Knight is awesome! I’m waiting on my copy of Crossed but it’s on it’s way! Pure sounds amazing! Great book week!
Oh I also got Pure but forgot to post about it lol! Is the Iron Fey series good? Im always wary of fairy books, the ones I have tried out have been too ‘Twilighty’ for me 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Amy – I don’t love fairy books in general, but I found the Iron Fey series very entertaining. It took me a while to get through the first one, but then I was hooked. There is romance, and a love triangle, so in that sense it’s Twilighty but overall I don’t find the two series to have too much in common.
Looks like you did well this week. I dont think I’ve received anything this week, but then I have a backlog to get through anyway! 🙂
I’m in the same boat as you, Nikki-Ann. Lots of books to get through! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I haven’t read CROSSED yet but I bet it’s so amazing as an audiobook. Enjoy!
I really want to read Pure! Enjoy 🙂

Hippies, Beauty, and Books. Oh My!
I’ve got to get Iron Knight. I got lucky and read it on NetGalley, but my daughter hasn’t read it yet.
I’ve heard great things about Flat-Out Love. I really should read that. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Crossed audio book.
The kindle edition of FOL is bargain priced now for $1.99. Time to snap it up!
I’m not sure about Crossed yet. Have you read it or Matched?
The Iron Knight is AMAZING! And it looks so pretty lined up next to the other Iron Fey books on my shelf! I need to get my mitts on Pure also. It sounds great!
I’ve been seeing FLAT OUT LOVE a lot lately, and I’ve been debating whether or not to buy it. As soon as I get through a good portion of my TBR pile, I think I’m going to have to give it a read! Hope you’re enjoying the CROSSED audiobook! I can’t wait to start on CROSSED.
Happy reading! 🙂
These all sound pretty fantabulous. I hope you have a fun time reading.
Crossed was awesome, I finished it last week, and The Iron Knight was so good! I hope you enjoy everything you got!

Great set! I can’t wait to read Crossed. I loved Iron Knight. It was one of my favorite books of the year. Enjoy!
