Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event brought to you by Breaking the Spine where we spotlight upcoming books. I don’t consistently participate in WoW, though this week I’m featuring a book I can’t wait to get my hands on:
Dirty Little Secret by Jennifer Echols
Simon & Schuster / MTV Books, 288 pages
Publication Date: July 16, 2013
From Goodreads:
Bailey wasn’t always a wild child and the black sheep of her family. She used to play fiddle and tour the music circuit with her sister, Julie, who sang and played guitar. That ended when country music execs swooped in and signed Julie to a solo deal. Never mind that Julie and Bailey were a duet, or that Bailey was their songwriter. The music scouts wanted only Julie, and their parents were content to sit by and let her fulfill her dreams while Bailey’s were hushed away.
Bailey has tried to numb the pain and disappointment over what could have been. And as Julie’s debut album is set to hit the charts, her parents get fed up with Bailey’s antics and ship her off to granddad’s house in Nashville. Playing fiddle in washed-up tribute groups at the mall, Bailey meets Sam, a handsome and oh-so-persuasive guitarist with his own band. He knows Bailey’s fiddle playing is just the thing his band needs to break into the industry. But this life has broken Bailey’s heart once before.a She isn’t sure she’s ready to let Sam take her there again…
I’ll read any of Jennifer Echols’ romantic dramas, and I’m excited about the Nashville music-scene setting in Dirty Little Secret. I love the show Nashville too, and the topic should make for a fun read with its mix of family drama, music and romance. The cover is pretty and designed a little differently than Echols’ other books. I like the color palette and the way it ties in so nicely with the premise. Sounds like an overall awesome summer read to me!
This sounds like a great book…I hadn’t heard about it before! Adding it to my stack of TBR books! 🙂

Oooh, I’d love to read a book with a Nashville setting. Plus, I’m a sucker for stories that featuring a shunted aside sibling–must be a middle child thing!

Review: Pushing the Limits
I love the music vibe of this book, I don’t think there are enough books with musicians in them! Great choice Lucy!
I haven’t read any of Echols’s work, but I follow her on Twitter and she seems wonderful. 🙂 I hope you love this one!
This book sounds great, and I love the cover!
This sounds really good, potentially a rather emotionally distraught main character with trust issues that will create a little friction throughout the book with the main character, but I’m interested to hear what you think! 🙂
I already have this one on my to-read list and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I’m really excited about it because it sounds great. Awesome pick! Enjoy!
Come check out my WOW post.

I’ve seen this book all over today! Don’t hate me, but I don’t really love Jennifer Echols. I LOVED Major Crush, but I had the opposite feeling about Love Story. And wasn’t really thrilled with The One That I Want, although I didn’t hate it or anything.
ooooh this sounds really good! i love music and this sounds like a really interesting and unique premise.. i like the cover, too. 🙂
This one does sound pretty good. I haven’t read any books by her yet, but I really want to! Great pick 🙂
