Blog Tour: Guardian (Proxy #2) by Alex London

Guardian blog tour

Today I’m pleased to take part in the GUARDIAN blog tour! GUARDIAN is the sequel to last year’s PROXY, a book that really made an impression on me. It’s kind of a futuristic update of The Whipping Boy, and features a diverse cast of characters including a protagonist who is a gay POC. You know I don’t read a lot of dystopian books, but Proxy gave me a lot to think about and plus had lots of heart-pounding action to make me want to keep reading.

My review copy of Guardian is still making its way across the country to me so look for a review at a later date, but in the meantime let’s find out more about the book and how you can enter to win a copy of Guardian for yourself!

The pulse-pounding sequel to Proxy! Inspired by The Whipping Boy and Feed, this adrenaline-fueled thriller will appeal to fans of The Hunger Games and Divergent.

In the new world led by the Rebooters, former Proxy Syd is the figurehead of the Revolution, beloved by some and hated by others. Liam, a seventeen-year-old Rebooter, is Syd’s bodyguard and must protect him with his life. But armed Machinists aren’t the only danger.
People are falling ill—their veins show through their skin, they find it hard to speak, and sores erupt all over their bodies. Guardians, the violent enforcers of the old system, are hit first, and the government does nothing to help. The old elites fall next, and in the face of an indifferent government, Syd decides it’s up to him to find a cure . . . and what he discovers leaves him stunned.

This heart-stopping thriller is packed with action, adventure, and heroics. Guardian will leave you breathless until the final page.

A fast-paced, thrill-ride of novel full of non-stop action, heart-hammering suspense and true friendship—just as moving as it is exhilarating. Fans of Anthony Horowitz’s Alex Rider series, James Dashner’s Maze Runner, Patrick Ness’s Chaos Walking series, and Marie Lu’s Legend trilogy will be swept away by this story.

You can read the first chapters of Guardian on EW.com, and also check out a bonus PROXY prequel (“Punishment”) for free on Wattpad.

  1. This is wonderful! I timed my reading of Proxy just before Guardian came out but ended up getting swamped with other stuff (and I still haven’t read it yet :(). Proxy was pretty rad though!

    1. Okay, so I noticed the prompt afterwards and felt like I had to validate myself haha:

I found that the power in writing came from the lackluster, average Joe-ish characters tied to the novel’s social commentary. Not to mention that when I first started reading it in the bookstore, I didn’t even peg it to be LGBTQ-oriented. Even so, the characters felt pretty self-aware to me and didn’t let their past and what-have-you define them.

I wrote about all these thoughts and more on my review of Proxy here.

      Cheers,
      Joey

  2. Well this sounds like an interesting series to say the least, I have not heard of it until now, but I look forward to your final thoughts when you receive your review copy!

  3. Oh, how awesome! I really liked PROXY but the sequel’s release date wasn’t on my radar, so thanks for the heads up–and thanks for the giveaway!

And LUCY, did you switch to WordPress? Congratulations, the site looks great! I have to come back to poke around some more.
