Top Ten Books Recently Added to my TBR

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature from The Broke and the Bookish. This week we are listing the books that we’ve recently added to to-be-read lists! My TBR list is about 3000 books (sigh) and growing everyday. Many of the books I’ve recently added don’t have covers yet, so I’m going to focus on the last ten I’ve added with cover art (that I haven’t featured here before).

Top Ten Books I’ve Recently Added to my TBR:

Shadowshaper by Daniel José Older – On sale June 30. I think I heard about this one on Twitter. This Urban Fantasy is set in New York and features zombies, Caribbean magic, and art. Different than my usual read but I’m intrigued.

First There Was Forever by Juliana Romano – On sale April 14. This book is about a friendship that grows apart and first love.

Read Between the Lines by Jo Knowles – On sale now. I think I saw this caught my eye when I saw it on DEBtastic Reads. This book is set over a 24-hour period and is about the intersecting lives of nine teens and one teacher.

Immaculate by Katelyn Detweiler – On sale May 26. Mina is a pregnant virgin but no one believes she never had sex. Sounds interesting!

Fig by Sarah Elizabeth Schantz – On sale April 7. This book deals with mental illness and mother-daughter relationships. Sounds like a haunting read.

The Anatomical Shape of a Heart by Jenn Bennett – On sale November 3. An artist meets a graffiti artist on the night bus in San Francisco and secrets threaten to tear them apart.

First & Then by Emma Mills – On sale October 13. The pretty, colorful cover definitely caught my eye. This one is about first impressions and getting out of your comfort zone.

A Million Miles Away by Lara Avery – On sale July 7. A girl’s twin dies and she can’t tell her sister’s boyfriend the truth. He was recently deployed to Afghanistan and the sister pretends to be her deceased twin, and then ends up falling for the guy. This can’t end well!

Modern Romance: an Investigation by Aziz Ansari – On sale June 16. This book is different then the usual celebrity humorous memoir. Ansari talks about the technological challenges of modern romance. “Why did this guy just text me an emoji of a pizza?” “Should I go out with this girl even though she listed Combos as one of her favorite snack foods? Combos?!”

You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day – On sale August 11. This humorous memoir by the actress/”queen of the geeks”/ internet star sounds like a blast.

What have you recently added to your TBR?

  1. Lots of new reads on here I haven’t heard of before, Lucy. I struggled with getting 10 today because I stuck with books I actually own, and I’m featuring a few in a monthly wrap-up tomorrow, and didn’t want to repeat them! I went with 5 recent additions. Now all I need it lots of time to read my TBR, and lots of will power to stop adding to it! R x

  5. ‘A Million Miles Away’ has been on my list for a long time I think! I want to read this one so badly – books with twins always seem to be really good! And NO WAY- Aziz Ansari wrote a book?! HA! Must read that!

This is the second list that I’ve seen First and Then by Jenn Bennett. It must be a sign that I must check it out 🙂 The Anatomical Shape of a Heart looks promising as well.

    Awesome list 🙂

  7. We just got Read Between the Lines into my library today, and I was laughing at the cover. It definitely grabbed my attention.

Haha, I laughed at the cover of Read Between the Lines… my dad is the one who taught me that little hand gesture. I also giggled at the description of Aziz Ansari’s book because I do like Combos and my husband thinks it’s so weird/gross, but I get them whenever we take road trips. I’m glad I didn’t lead with that when we first met!

  9. Zombies and Caribbean Voodoo? I could so get behind that kind of story! Thanks for posting these, a few cool finds I hadn’t heard of before! 🙂

  10. Oh my gosh! I was looking through your list and my eye was drawn to by ‘Lara Avery’… nearly me! just missing a ‘u’ – so I should probably read this too. I love the fact you are drawn by a cover, I am such a sucker for this. Happy reading x
