Sweet on Softcovers – Colleen Hoover Book Giveaway

Even though I do a lot of reading on my kindle or audible app, I still collect print books. For books I love I prefer to have them in every format!  How do you choose what format to buy your books in?

One of my favorite New Adult authors is Colleen Hoover. I do own several of her books in paperback that I had signed by her at a New Adult book event earlier this year. Colleen’s latest book Losing Hope just hit shelves in paperback.Losing Hope Colleen Hoover

Here’s five reasons why Colleen Hoover loves printed books:

  •     I love having them on display because they’re pretty.
  •     I love being able to have them signed by my favorite authors.
  •     I like to be able to let people borrow them.
  •     I love the smell of real paper.
  •     The ones that suck make good coasters (:))

All good reasons! I think print books come in handy for plane travel when you have to turn off your digital devices for ascent and descent, they are easier to flip through for reference, they hold your favorite bookmarks, you can appreciate the typography and inside cover, and of course no batteries required.

  1. I LOVE print copies because apart from the fact that they look so beautiful on my bookshelf, I also, when I’m in my room, just love to stare at my bookshelf and think, “WOW, I’ve read all these books!”

I love the feel of print copies and being able to flip through those pages! Plus I can have them autographed by my favorite authors. Thanks for an awesome giveaway!

    Thanks for the cool giveaway!

My family thinks it’s weird that I prefer paperbacks and hardcovers to PDFs and eReaders, especially when so many of the books I receive are online rather than in my hands. I think the reason I love paper copies is because they are becoming rare in our society as the internet takes over more and more. I love being able to look at the books and think that this is something people have been doing for generations. Yeah, all those books might take up space but they fill a void that ebooks cannot. I can touch the pages, feel the weight of the book, and smell the fresh ink as though it just came off the presses. There is nothing better than a paperback and a hardback because they are a part of my very being. I can’t imagine not owning or having paper books.

  4. I love print books–goes back to my childhood when reading a book was my favorite passtime. Too bad this giveaway is for US only!! I’m in Canada.

Because I like to hold the book when reading and use real bookmarks

I get really horrible migraines, so reading an electronic screen for a long time kills me. Plus, nothing beats the smell of a book and the satisfaction of flipping pages and seeing how far you’ve come! 🙂

  7. Kelly McKay says:

I actually prefer reading ebooks, but I sometimes just have to buy print copies of the books I absolutely love! Or if the cover is especially gorgeous? It’s going to be on my bookshelf 🙂

  8. Bridget Howard says:

I just love holding the books in my hands, and having them sit on my shelves!!! If I really love a book I want it on my shelf!!!

  9. Nothing beats having a copy of the books you read in your hands. The smell of new book and the smell of older books. I keep my physical copies in perfect condition and they are “my precious” (<– said in creepy voice..). Thank you so much for the chance to win a set of Colleen Hoover's books in print, it amazing!!!!

When I was younger, I always loved playing with and rearranging books on my parents’ shelves and coffee tables, which is why I still prefer reading print books over digital copies. I love handing over a physical book that I’ve enjoyed to a friend. It’s like sharing a secret 🙂

I just love print books! The smell, the feel, the sound when the spine first cracks open, I love all of it!

I like print books for a lot of the same reasons that you do. I like the pretty covers and I like being able to lend them out (only to the most trustworthy friends though). I also being a physical book on the plane so that I do not have to deal with turning it on and off during takeoff and landing. I wish I could got o the MG signing but too far away for a weeknight.

I love petting, stroking and rearranging my books! It’s the greatest thing ever!

I love holding them and the substance as compared to holding your phone or ipad. I share them with my students and though they are tattered they are still the best way to share. When I get them back they are like having an old friend drop by after a long time of not seeing them. Even if I do not see them again I know they are possibly with someone who loves them enough to keep them. You cannot do that with an e-book

  15. Em says:

I don’t have an e-reader other than my computer, so my eyes tend to get very tired if I read for very long on it.
So good things about having a print book is…..You can read a whole lot longer because your eyes don’t get tired from the lights…….You can look at the cover and fawn over it…….I also tend to get more attached to a book if it is in print rather than e-books……..And all of her reasons of course!
I recently borrowed Colleen’s Slammed and absolutely fell in love with it, so if I win this I will be a very happy camper!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  16. Michele says:

I love my print books because the thought of owning my own personal library just fasinates me. My collection is starting to get big, and I just like to look at them and pet them…yes, i’m wierd…and even smell the older copies!! I can just look at the book and be reminded of the story, or where I was at the time of reading it.

  17. Natasha says:

I love print books because there is nothing like holding the physical copy of a book, the smell and getting to see the artwork. Also I don’t have an e-reader so I can only read ebooks on the computer which is not very comfortable.
Thanks for the chance to win!
    Happy Halloween!

Wow, thanks for this awesome giveaway! I adore Colleen Hoover’s books so much, she’s one of my all time favorite authors.
I love print books because I love actually being able to hold the book and physically flip the pages. And I love that feeling you get when you finish a book, close the cover and just hold it and squeal (unless you didn’t like it. Or maybe it’s just me). I also really like the smell of new books. And another main reason I love print books is because I can display them all on my bookshelf. They’re pretty much my version of trophies. I like to stare at the covers too because so many books have gorgeous covers and I’m just like so pretty!
So yeah, I really love print copies but E-books can be nice sometimes too. For example when I go on vacation I bring my iPad which is loaded with E-books so I don’t have to lug around 10 actual books. It’s just more convenient, but print books still rock!

  19. Melody says:

I love the smell of books and the idea that I have it in front of me, physically turning the pages is wonderful!

  20. Jessica says:

I feel like there is a stronger connection when you feel the paper in your hand.

  21. Jeanne says:

I love print copies because I want to know that I can touch the book and feel like I am right there with the people I am trying to relate to. I am from the “old school” and enjoy reading the old fashion way. There is just something about being able to look at the cover and know that this book is mine to enjoy when I want without having to connect up!!!!

  22. Christy says:

I prefer print books because I love looking at all the pretty covers on my bookshelves! I also have a terrible fear that all my Kindle books will go poof 🙁

    Thanks for the giveaway!
