2014 Favorites: Romance and New Adult

How was your reading year? Have you shared your fave reads of the year yet or are you hoping to still read a few more titles? My reading year was pretty good, and eclectic as well. I still read a lot of YA but I branched out into other genres and I can see that happening more and more next year.

To highlight some of the different categories I read, this year I’m going to break out my “best of” lists by category. If you’re still hunting for gifts, maybe these lists will give you some ideas! I’m kicking off my Fave Reads of 2014 with Romance and New Adult.

2014 Favorites: Romance and New Adult:

The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon – Better late than never to the Outlander party! I’m sure many of us started reading the books after watching the Starz series. These books are verra long indeed, and will keep me busy until the series returns in April.

Lead and Play (Stage Dive series) by Kylie Scott – This 4-book rock star romance series is about the rock band Stage Dive, and the girls who love them. Totally addictive!

Breakable (Contours of the Heart series) by Tammara Webber – As a fan of Easy I enjoyed getting leading man Lucas’ backstory in this one. In Breakable, we see “the journey that led him to be the man he is with Jacqueline.”

Deeper (Caroline & West series) by Robin York – This NA book features a slow burn romance, but also gets into some heavy topics too. This book (and the sequel Harder) kept me up late reading.

Sweet Filthy Boy and Dirty Rowdy Thing (Wild Seasons series) by Christina Lauren – This series is about a group of friends and their romantic entanglements. These books are playful, smart and sexy. I wish I had the next book now!

Finally, Forever (First Comes Love series) by Katie Kacvinsky – This is the standalone series finale of First Comes Love, about two opposites looking for their HEA. There is a sweet rom-com vibe to this one.

The Marked Men series by Jay Crownover – I just started reading this series this year and have been gobbling the books up. This series is about a group of guys – some work as tattoo artists, there’s a musician, and a soldier- and the women who win their hearts. Big fun for NA fans!

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover – I’m a fan of Hoover’s brand of NA books, and this one is “romantic, happy, sad, emotional, and heart wrenching.”

A Bollywood Affair by Sonali Dev – My most recent romantic read features a bad boy Bollywood director and an innocent girl who’s “married” to his brother (it’s complicated). This engaging debut has “a sweet forbidden love story, cultural flavor, and intriguing personal stories and characters.”

London Falling (International School series) by Chanel Cleeton – This NA series features “romance, international travel, diversity, friendship and family drama, and has a college setting.” I still need to read the final book French Kissed– it’s getting good buzz!

There are still some Romance and New Adult unread books on my kindle that may show up on next year’s list. What were your favorite romance titles of 2014?

  2. I haven’t made any year end lists yet. I really need to catch up on the Wild Things series. Maybe I will try to read them over the holiday break. Thank for sharing these, Lucy!

  3. I love the Outlander series and have read and listened to them on audio! I started reading it when first book came out years ago! I would find it daunting setting into it from the beginning.
I also loved a Bollywood Affair – can see it as a movie.
