Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature from The Broke and the Bookish. This week we are talking about our Auto-Buy Authors. I was looking back at the authors I chose for this topic a couple years ago. Many of the authors still hold as auto-buy so I guess I’m very loyal to my favorites. To keep things interesting I’m not going to duplicate any authors on this list. I included authors that I’ve read 3 or more books from the past few years.
Here are ten of my favorite Auto-Buy Authors:
YA:
1. Rainbow Rowell – I have all of Rainbow’s books (in audio and print) and have preordered her latest Carry On. My kid and I both read Rainbow’s books so she is an easy one to auto-buy. I know she writes for an adult audience as well and that’s just icing on the cake.
2. Sarah J. Maas – Sarah Maas is one of the only authors that writes fantasy that makes the auto-buy cut for me. Rather than auto-read her books though- I’d consider the Throne of Glass series auto-listens. I love Elizabeth Evans’ narration and can’t wait to listen to Queen of Shadows. I think this series would appeal to many contemporary fans too- so much to enjoy about this series.
3. Cynthia Hand – Speaking of fantasy authors, I fell for Cynthia Hand’s Unearthly series but was thrilled when she wrote a contemporary novel this year (The Last Time We Say Goodbye.) She really can bring on the emotion in her books. I look forward to next summer’s My Lady Jane, co-authored with Brodi Ashton and Jodie Meadows. It’s described as “a comic, romantic and fantastical retelling of the story of the Lady Jane Grey,” told in the vein of The Princess Bride.
4. A.S. King – A.S. King marches to the beat of her own drummer and I love it. She writes about LGBT characters, feminist issues, and has fun with magical realism. I’m eager to check out her latest I Crawl Through It.
5. Robin Benway – Robin Benway’s books are witty, smart, and engaging, from the hilarious Audrey, Wait! to the teen safecracker Also Known As series to the poignant Emmy & Oliver.
6. Huntley Fitzpatrick – Huntley Fitzpatrick are perfect summer reads with a great seaside setting and interesting, flawed characters. I (re)read all three of her books this summer and found new things to appreciate about them. (Her latest The Boy Most Likely To is on sale today!)
7. Morgan Matson – Morgan Matson’s books have great emotional depth and include strong friendships as well as romance. I can’t wait to read her next book The Unexpected Everything (due out next May- so far away!)
NA/Romance:
8. Christina Lauren – I still haven’t read this writing duo’s YA offerings but I am addicted to their adult Beautiful and Wild Seasons series’. I’m patiently waiting for my preorder of Dark Wild Night to arrive.
9. Tammara Webber – The Contours of the Heart series is one of my favorites in NA, and I recently binge read Tammara Webber’s Between the Lines series too. Can’t wait for her next book (I hear it’s a spinoff of a character from Easy).
10. Kylie Scott – I devoured the 4-book Stage Dive series and look forward to reading Kylie Scott’s new book/series called Dive Bar (due out next April)
Who are your favorite auto-buy / auto-read authors?
SJ Maas is on my auto buy list as well ^_^ Along with Patrick Ness, Brandon Sanderson 😀 I have yet to read the books that I own by Huntley Fitzpatrick and Tammara Webber. I have high hopes for ’em 😀
Super awesome list ^_^
Considering all of the hype I hear of Sarah J. Maas’ books, I’m poised to love her novels. Morgan Matson is an amazing author, definitely one who has made my “auto” list this year… (yep, I’m saying this after reading ONE book). 😉
Yess to Christina Lauren!! Their books are such fun reads with great characters, I’ll definitely auto-buy them. Same for Sarah J. Maas but I ended up leaving her off because I’ve put her on so many lists…hahaha. Huntley FitzPatrick is speeding her way to that list though, I loved her last two and I can’t wait to read The Boy Most Likely To! SO many good books on this list though!! 🙂
Sarah J. Maas is at the top of my list. And I love Rainbow Rowell, although I’ve only read her YA books so far. And A.S. King’s books are so good.. Great list, and thanks for sharing. 🙂
Rainbow Rowell and Sarah J. Maas is also on my list. I also really like Huntley Fitzpatrick and Morgan Matson even though I’ve only read one of their books each. For a while, I’ve known I wanted to get into AS King, but there are just so many books, ya know. This post just put her back on my radar. Thanks!
I hear so many amazing things about Rainbow Rowell but I still haven’t picked any of her books up. What would you recommend for a newbie like me? Also, Morgan Matson is a genius. Other than that, the only author on this list that I’ve actually read anything from is Sarah J. Maas, but I’ve only read Throne Of Glass. I do own Crown Of Midnight and Heir Of Fire, so when Queen Of Shadows gets released, I might have to have a marathon 😛
Maas is the only author on your list on mine this week, but a number of your picks are authors I really want to read. Great list 🙂
Rainbow Rowell and Christina Lauren are both on my list! Love all of them. All their books. (Except CL’s YA books which I, too, haven’t read. But I’m sure I’d like ’em if I did. Ha.) I also enjoy Huntley, Tammara and Kylie’s books.
Great picks!
Oh yes, Rainbow Rowell and A. S. King for sure.
Great list!
I haven’t heard of a few of these—will have to check them out! I do love A.S. King, though! Sarah J. Maas, Morgan Matson, and Rainbow Rowell are on my must-read-soon list!
Having a duh moment right now! How could I forget to add Christina Lauren! Love love love your list!
Here are my Top Ten! @ LazyBookLovers
I love A.S. King so much. She would’ve been on my list but I’ve gotten behind on her books. I still need to read Reality Boy. I also love Morgan Matson! I should have added her to my list!
I’m also looking forward to Dive Bar! I read the Stage Dive series in a week and adored it. I’m also a big Christina Lauren fan and have been enjoying the Wild Seasons so far.
Great list!
