Top Ten Halloween Reads

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by the nice folks at The Broke and the Bookish featuring a new top ten list each week. Everyone can participate- head on over to their blog and sign up.

This week’s topic is Top Ten Books To Read During Halloween. I’m keeping my list YA this week and there are a lot of great creepy titles out there. It was hard to narrow it down to ten. I own most of these, and have been saving them to read for this spooky time of year.

In no particular order, these are some scary reads to enjoy over Halloween:

2. Possess by Gretchen McNeil – Demons! Just the cover alone terrifies me.

3. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake – Murderous Ghosts come alive in this horror story. The funny/scary combo is perfect for those who are reluctant to read ghost stories.

4. Nevermore by Kelly Creagh – Edgar Allan Poe stories come to life in this creative paranormal read.

5. The Devouring by Simon Holt – Demonic creatures called Vours inhabit human bodies on Sorry night.

6. Cryer’s Cross by Lisa McMann – Eerie and suspenseful story about mysterious disappearances in a small town.

7. The Graveyard Book by Neal Gaiman – My daughter’s choice for the list – an orphaned boy is cared for by ghosts in a graveyard.

8. Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry -The highly rated first book in the Benny Imura zombie series.

9. Ruined by Paula Morris – An atmosphericย  ghost story set in New Orleans.

10. Shadowed Summer by Saundra Mitchell – A haunting read set in a small Louisiana town.

What are your favorite books to read over Halloween?
