I am thrilled to share the cover and official synopsis of Out of Play, a new book from the writing team of Nyrae Dawn and Jolene Perry. This New Adult book from Entangled Teen first got my attention on Goodreads with the pitch description “Gayle Forman’s Where She Went meets Miranda Kenneally’s Catching Jordan.” Music, sports, and romance? Yes, please.

Pretty! The chemistry and emotion shines through in the close-up of the character’s faces. It doesn’t give anything away about the plot but makes me want to know more about it. I also like that splash of color in Play– maybe because I have nail polish to match.
Here’s the official description:
Rock star drummer Bishop Riley doesn’t have a problem. Celebrities—especially ones suffering from anxiety—deserve to party, right? Wrong. After taking a few too many pills, Bishop wakes up in the hospital facing an intervention. If he wants to stay in the band, he’ll have to detox while under house arrest in Seldon, Alaska.
Hockey player Penny Jones can’t imagine a life outside of Seldon. Though she has tons of scholarship offers, the last thing she wants is to leave. Who’ll take care of her absent-minded gramps? Not her mother, who can’t even be bothered with the new tenants next door.

From the blurb, there are a few elements that interest me – the Alaska setting, Penny the hockey player who is devoted to her gramps, and the troubled rock star Bishop under house arrest next door. Sounds interesting, no?
I have to admit I haven’t read a book by these authors (yet) though I have Falling, Measuring Up, and Charade waiting on my kindle. I checked out their author blogs and they have fantastic taste in books so I can’t wait to read Out of Play for myself.

Love these authors!! I’m such a fan! I’ve read almost every book Nyrae has released (haven’t read Karma Bites yet) and a few of Jolene’s (a couple were co-written w/other authors). The other book they wrote together “Dizzy” was a great read too! I just purchased “3 Sides to a Circle” by Jolene (& Janna Watts) yesterday and pre-ordered Facade (Nyrae) as well.
Hope you love their books too! The ones you have on your Kindle right now are great reads. Of those 3 you listed, I have to say Charade was my favorite 🙂

I really liked Dizzy by these authors, and I’ve really enjoyed the Nyrae Dawn titles I’ve read (especially Measuring Up).
I have to say that this cover doesn’t really appeal to me (kissing covers aren’t my thing, and it seems really stereotypically NA)… however the book itself sounds AWESOME. Can’t wait to check it out. =)

I see your point about the cover. It would be interesting if hockey or music was tied into the cover, but maybe they wanted to convey a more romantic vibe.
