#FitReaders Weekly Check-In: Jan. 17, 2015

my 2015 challenges

#FitReaders is hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book Blog and That’s What I’m Talking About.

I kind of have a love/hate relationship with these check-ins! When I don’t feel like working out (and it’s only January!), #FitReaders makes me remember about this commitment to health and fitness and so I push through. AND I inevitably feel better afterword. See? Love/Hate.

Here’s how I did this week:

1/11 Walked a million miles at Disneyland (okay, over 20,000 steps, though Andrew thinks riding roller coasters inflated my step count)

1/12 60 minutes walking (sore feet too from the day before)

1/13 40 minutes Zumba

1/14 60 minutes Walking

1/15 45 minutes Cardio, 60 minutes Pilates

1/16 30 minutes Cardio, 45 minutes Pilates

1/17 40 minutes Zumba, 45 minutes Pilates

Fitness success of the week: I’ve lost 5 pounds so far (since Christmas or so?)

Audiobooks listened to on walks: The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender, The Scar Boys, and All the Bright Places

This week I’m going to share my favorite lunchtime smoothie. It fills me up for hours and is packed with protein. It has been warm here lately so this smoothie has been very refreshing- it might be too cold for smoothies where you are!

almond milk, pb, banana, protein smoothie

Almond Milk PB Banana Protein Smoothie (Vegan):

1/2 cup Almond Milk

1 small frozen banana (if it’s not frozen you may want to add a little ice to the blender)

2 TB peanut butter or almond butter (I’ve been digging coconut peanut butter in this)

1 serving protein powder

Add all ingredients and blend until smooth. It is thick, creamy and delicious!

Contains approx. 430 calories, 34 grams of protein, 19 grams of fat, and 17 grams sugar.

What’s your favorite post-workout meal/smoothie recipe? How do you stay motivated when you don’t feel like working out?

  1. Great work and I think most of us have a love/hate relationship with the check in, but it worked for me last year so worth it.

Studying the smoothie recipe, and going to jot down, perfect for here as is warm and I haven’t made any smoothies this summer. I have a sister who makes very health conscious smoothies – well actually a couple of them with all this green stuff in it!!

  3. I have a love/hate thing with them too (which I probably shouldn’t since I host the dang thing) but wait until you have a week from me (and it will happen) where I say I sat on my ass LOL I think even having off weeks/days checking in at least makes me be real about it to myself 🙂

Also Congrats on the 5lbs gone and finding a smoothie you like 🙂
