Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature from The Broke and the Bookish where we make all kinds of bookish lists.
This week’s topic is:
Top Ten Debut Authors Who Have Me Looking Forward To Their Sophomore Novel (because when you love a debut you just are ITCHING to get your hands on the author’s second book)
I have read some great debuts over the last few years and I had fun looking them up on Goodreads to see what’s next on the horizon from these authors. Here are the Top Ten Debut Authors I Want to Read More From:
Becky Albertalli – Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is an engaging, heartwarming debut. There doesn’t seem to be any info about a follow-up from Albertalli, except for an Untitled 2016 placeholder on Goodreads.
Kate Bassett – Words and Their Meanings is one of my favorite YA novels about grief. So glad to see there is another book in the works. Look for Letters to the Lost in 2016.
Sharon Biggs Waller – A Mad, Wicked Folly was a 5-star read for me. Glad we don’t have much longer to wait for the author’s next book The Forbidden Orchid- out Spring 2016.
Karma Brown – Come Away with Me has heartbreak, drama, and exotic locales- my kind of read. I can’t wait for The Choices We Make, coming Summer 2016.
Ava Dellaira – I loved Love Letters to the Dead– a great book about grief, family and love that gives you all the feels. I know the author is busy with the movie adaptation, so we have a wait for the next book- 17 Years is due out in 2018.
Joy N. Hensley – I enjoyed Rites of Passage, about a girl who joins the first class of girls at a military academy. I don’t think a sequel is in the works, but hopefully we will get an announcement about something new from this author soon.
Katja Millay – Remember The Sea of Tranquility? I need more books from this author!
Amanda Panitch – Damage Done was such a tense, suspenseful read. Panitch’s follow-up, Never Missing, Never Found, sounds like another exciting thriller- look for it Summer 2016.
Jenn Marie Thorne – The Wrong Side of Right has a refreshing political backdrop and is a fun page-turner. Thorne’s follow-up is called The Inside of Out and it’s described as Meg Cabot meets Glee. On sale Summer 2016.
Jasmine Warga – My Heart and Other Black Holes is one of the better YA books about depression and I look forward to more books from Warga. She has an Untitled 2016 book listed on Goodreads and I hope we hear more about it soon.
What sophomore books are on your radar?
Great list! I haven’t read any of these, though Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda is on my list. 🙂
I just read a great review of Come Away With Me. I should look for that book.
I included Love Letters to the Dead on my list as well! It was such a unique perspective on the family tragedy story!
Great list! My TBR is so huge it’s scary! But I’d totally add a Katja Millay book if there were a new one!
Awesome list! I’ve only read The Wrong Side of Right and I LOVED it. I’ve had my eye on The Sea of Tranquility for the longest time and really hope to pick it up soon.
Great list. You have a few books on here that I have read and enjoyed myself. I think I am also going to have to add a few of these to my Christmas wishlist, it looks like I have missed out on some great debuts recently. I am especially excited to read Simon VS the Homo Sapiens Agenda, I have heard so many good things about that one. Here’s my TTT.
We have Becky Albertalli in common. I just finished reading Simon VS. and I cannot wait to get more from her. I absolutely loved it. I have many of the authors you listed on my TBR.
This is a great list! So many pretty covers on there, definitely going to check them out 🙂
