Mailbox Monday (84)

Mailbox Monday buttonMailbox Monday is a weekly event where we share our latest book arrivals. Link up and find new mailboxes to stalk at the Mailbox Monday blog!

This weekend I participated in a blogging event called LoveAThon which was so much fun, but I have a little LoveAThon hangover after so much blogging and commenting. I did not get to read a ton, but I’m listening to a fabulous audiobook called A Mad, Wicked Folly. It’s set in Edwardian London and it’s about art and the Suffragette movement. So good!

Now, on to the books!

For Review:

Fifty First Times: A New Adult Anthology compiled by Julie Cross – 19 stories of romantic firsts by NA authors

Half Bad by Sally Green – First book in a new trilogy set in modern day England about good and evil. I see lots of positive reviews out there, and a few disappointed reactions so I’m curious to see where I’ll fall.

Returning to Shore by Corinne Demas – This YA coming of age is about a girl who reconnects with her estranged father.

The Never Never Sisters by L. Allison Heller – Two sisters reunite one summer in New York and discover some hard truths.

Breathe Into Me by Sara Fawkes – A NA book about two damaged people who find each other.

 Purchased:

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi – The last book in the Shatter Me trilogy was on sale for kindle. Looking forward to catching up with this series.

Kiss the Morning Star by Elissa Janine Hoole – Road trip coming of age that’s currently on sale.

A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb – Kindle Daily Deal that I’ve been meaning to check out. It’s a highly regarded ghost/love story from 2005.

Library:

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge (Audiobook) – Cruel Beauty is this authors’ debut novel and it’s based on Beauty and the Beast.

Looks like a good list of books here! I’ll be interested to see what you think of Cruel Beauty. I’ve heard a lot of good things but I’m not convinced so far! Last week I went a bit mad and got 6 books – The Rosie Project, Named of the Dragon, Code Name: Verity, The Romance of the Forest, Touch of Power and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. Bit of a random selection! 🙂

I’m really looking forward to Half Bad, and I didn’t realize the reviews were so divided. Interesting! That always makes me want to read a book more for some reason. I’m glad you’re enjoying A Mad Wicked Folly! I love that it’s about art, must check it out:-)

  9. I LOVED Cruel Beauty, I wonder how the audio stacks up to the book. Hmmm.

Currently reading Half Bad right now and it is interesting, to be sure, kind of violent though.

    Happy reading!

These are all new titles for me… and they all sound interesting.

  11. I can’t wait to hear what you think of A CERTAIN SLANT OF LIGHT! One of my favorite books. 🙂 I’m really looking forward to reading MAD, WICKED FOLLY as well. I hadn’t seen RETURNING TO SHORE before, so thanks for the heads up on that–I generally have really good luck with Carolrhoda Lab. Happy reading, Lucy!

Lots of great books. Since I don’t have a sister I’ve always been fascinated by the relationship so I’d probably start with that one.
