Audiobooks.com Review and 3-month Subscription Giveaway

I was recently contacted by Audiobooks.com to check out their site and offer my readers a giveaway. Hooray! I just finished listening to my first audiobook from the site (Girl in a Band) and I’ll share my experience using the app below. Read on to find out what I thought and how to enter to win a gift subscription.

Audiobooks.com is a subscription audiobook service, similar to Audible.com. A monthly subscription costs $14.95 per audiobook credit (same as Audible) and you can buy additional credits if you like. There is a 30-day free trial that allows you to listen to one audiobook for free and then pay the monthly fee going forward or cancel within the 30 days. Monthly subscription credits expire within 3 months of issue.

Audiobooks.com gave me some credits to try out their site and my first download was Kim Gordon’s Girl in a Band. Below are some screenshots and notes on the app.

You can download or stream audiobooks from the desktop or mobile app. Here’s what you see when you open the app. You can browse the latest releases and bestsellers:

Audiobooks.com Front page App

Here is the playback screen with the usual controls, social media, etc. I like to adjust the speed of my audiobooks and the app has four speeds: Normal, Fast, Faster, and Ludicrous. The app didn’t save my speed preference so I had to keep updating that. (For this book I preferred “Faster” speed) You can also see there is a timer for sleep mode and a skip 30 seconds rewind/fast forward.

Here are the navigation and settings screens.

And in addition to genre there are different spotlight categories to browse:

The app worked as it was supposed to (no crashes) and bookmarked my spot in the audiobook automatically. I like that you can download/stream directly from the app.

With the increasing popularity of audiobooks there is increased competition in this category. I access audiobooks from a variety of sources (Overdrive, Scribd, Audible, Downpour) and I’d add this site to the mix. With about 40,000 titles available (Audible is at 150,000+) chances are you’ll find best sellers on this site but smaller titles may not be available.

Audiobooks.com also has sales, and currently you can grab J.A. Jance’s books for $10 each, As You Wish by Cary Elwes for $5 or Christina Lauren’s Dirty Rowdy Thing also for $5.

Take advantage of the 30-day free trial and get your free audiobook:

  2. I just started listening to audiobooks, my first is The Secrets of Midwives. I wasn’t sure if they would work for me, I was afraid my mind would wander………but I loved it! Now thinking of joining a service, so this would be a perfect way to try this one for longer than the one month trial.

The best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to are the Daughter and Smoke and Bone series! The narrator was so great–I listened to it as a reread of the book, and enjoyed it more listening to it than I had when I previously read the hardcover.
