New arrivals at Casa Reading Date:

Mailbox Monday 67 books

For Review:

The Darkest Minds and Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken – From Big Honcho Media. I’ve heard good things about this series, and now I get to read books one and two back-to-back.

Where’d You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple – From Hachette. I think this book is pretty new to paperback, and it sounds very cute.

Dare Me by Megan Abbott – From Hachette. Also new to paperback, this is a mystery about a cheerleader’s suicide.

Library books – picked up for Cybils:

17 & Gone by Nova Ren Suma – A girl has visions of missing 17-year-old girls and fears she might be next.

Fat Angie by e. E. Charlton-Trujillo -Angie deals with bullies at school, depression, and troubles with her family, and a new girl at school sees through to the real Angie.

Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick your Ass by Meg Medina – Piddy is the new girl and immediately gets some unwelcome attention from the school bully, Yacqui.

Wise Young Fool by Sean Beaudoin – Ritchie recounts the year leading up to his stint in juvie.

How to Lead a Life of Crime by Kirsten Miller – This is about an exclusive NYC school that trains criminals.

Crash and Burn by Michael Hassan -Crash halts his classmate Burn’s plan to blow up the school and writes a book all about it.

E-Books:

Far from You by Tess Sharpe – Disney Hyperion/NG – Sophie almost died twice and had a drug problem, so no one believes her when she says she’s clean and had nothing to do with her friend Mina’s death.

Heating Up the Holidays 3-Story Bundle by Lisa Renee Jones, Mary Ann Rivers, Serena Bell – Loveswept/NG. There’s a Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s story in this bundle.

Stir Me Up by Sabrina Elkins – Harlequin Teen/NG. Cami is a French chef’s daughter who has her post-high school life figured out, until she falls for 20-year-old ex-marine Julian.

Unteachable by Leah Raeder – kindle purchase. This book is about a girl who falls for her teacher (before she knows he’s her teacher) and the fallout.

One & Only by Liv Daniels – source: author. Viv Daniels is Diana Peterfreund’s pen name and this New Adult book sounds fabulous.

What exciting new books did you pick up this week?

Wow it seems like a lot of authors have New Adult or Romance pen names these days. I would totally read that Viv Daniels book though. I’ve almost gotten 17 & Gone a few times, too. Kidnapping stories always freak me out though.

Lots of good books this week, Lucy. Happy reading!

  8. Ooh Bernadette! Such a riot! I hope you like it 🙂

It looks like you have a fantastic haul of books this week. They all look really interesting. I heard parts of Where’d You Go Bernadette on BBC Radio 4 a while back (June 2012, according to the website) and it was a really fun play, so I hope the book is just as good. I hope you enjoy your books, and that you have a good week.

I discovered this week that Liv Daniels is Diana Peterfreund and since i enjoyed her Secret Society and Unicorn series (I still have to read her most recent one though!), I am really looking forward to this one.
