Trailer: The X-Files Revival

The truth is still out there! Are you excited about The X-Files revival? I watched this show back in the day and was mildly obsessed. I loved the X-Files mythology episodes and the chemistry between leads Mulder and Scully. I never finished watching the series though, so don’t tell me how it ends! But, I’m currently re-watching the whole series with my teen (we are almost done with season two) and we hope to finish in time for the January 24 revival premiere.

This week Fox released the first trailer from the 6-episode event series. I’m not caught up on the series but I’d consider this trailer to be spoiler free (if you watch it on YouTube don’t read the comments though…I speak from experience!)

Nice to see some familiar faces and I’m hoping they have some more surprise cameos as well. Since I’m watching the early episodes now the technology is really out of date (the phones!) so it will be fun to see them with current technology. (I love when Scully sees Mulder’s name on her phone in the trailer.)

I hear there will be a mix of mythology and monsters of the week episodes in the series revival. Surprising, considering this run is only six episodes! I hope that this series can tie up any loose ends and go out with a bang. And then we also have Twin Peaks to look forward to! All my 90s obsessions are coming back (though I’m not holding my breath for a My So-Called Life reunion).

And to bring this back to books- there are a lot of books about The X-Files! One anthology came out this summer called Trust No One. It’s edited by author Jonathan Maberry and features “all new case files from the X-Files.”

The 6-episode TV series starts on January 24 on Fox. Are you going to be watching?

  1. My friend just shared the trailer on FB recently. I really can’t remember what happened in the last movie but I don’t care. I loved this series and I will definitely be watching the new episodes!

I’m glad you’ll be checking it out too! I can’t wait to see what X-Files looks like now!

  2. Yeees. I, like you, tried to binge watch the original series a few years ago when the new movie came out.. I got about 3 seasons in and then stopped. I really liked some of the episodes, but found it a bit boring at other times. It also frustrated me that Scully was still a skeptic after EVERYTHING THAT HAD HAPPENED TO HER. Haha. I am pretty excited for the mini-series, though! I really want to try watching again! Some episodes were legit SCARY.

Right?! Every episode Mulder’s like “Why don’t you believe?” and Scully’s like “There’s a scientific reason for all of this!” And like you said- especially with everything she’s gone through!!
Some of the episodes are downright chilling. I’m scared to see what an updated X-FIles looks like but excited too. Glad you’ll be watching!
